Wanted to run this by you. I have some 1/16" diamond plate that I am making fenders out of. I need to make a frame to rivet this to. I do not plan on standing or sitting on the fenders. Would 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 x 14 GA (.083 wall) Steel Structural Square Tube work for me and be stong enough as a support?

The frame will be bolted to the side body of the trailer and welded to avertical support it the top center then at each of the bottom corners connected to the frame. It will be an A frame fender that is 20X15 in the front angle, 18X15 at the top, and 18X15 in the rear angle.

that should be plenty. Did you see the fenders i made with diamond plate and ammo can?

Yes I did. Was was planning on doing something similiar, but decided to put a large ammo box like yours inside the swing out door to store my stove and use as a cooking platform. Smaller 50 cal cans will be mounted to the sides for small stuff.

Ammo cans =

Can you/ do you have a way to bend the diamond plate? If so, and bent the right way, you wouldn't need any structure under it. Given that you don't intend to stand on it, even 1/16th diamond plate gets very stiff with a couple of strategic bends in it. Otherwise - your tubing structure would be plenty strung enuff.
