I placed an ad on CL looking for a CN M101 or US M416 and got this reply.

"I have two as new as you can get. Take your pick $1000. One with Washington title, other will provide Bill of Sale."

I have contact info so my and a friend are going to look these this weekend, but after looking online and knowing NOTHING about these what should I look for or be aware of?

I have read up on Expedition Portal and here and would just love to build one, just don't want to buy something that I shouldn't

Shane

I will post pics and details as they come from seller.

uh... just provide me with the details of the seller, and i'd be happy to go and take care of this for you!

just kidding.

$1000 for one in anything close to new condition is a good price, especially in washington state. on my build thread (url below) you'll see the condition of mine when I boutght it. i would pay $800 for one in similar condition today.

if you want to chat send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number happy to chat. if you're in seattle, I can show you my trailer in person so you can get an idea of what to look for too. (common rust areas, things that wear out, etc.)

good luck! these trailers are awesome!

whoops, looks like you're down in oregon. PM me your phone number and i'm happy to call you.

go with #2 as it looks like the floor is in much better shape as for the price Id offer him $850 as it missing the data plate (also the SN#) but the plate is easy to find NOS and you just stamp in your own #s and work your way up from there to a $1000 if you really want it

not sure how things down there go with titles etc, but up here for trailers, they're not needed as we register them as U-built trailers. but if title is difficult to get, poses a problem with getting it registered or getting plates or whatever, or if you want the authenticity of having the original plates/decals, go with #1. the floor doesnt look too bad, actually its looks better than the tail corner of #2. hard to tell by the pics though, but i'd choose #1. offer 850 as mentioned. 1000 wouldnt be a steal, but if that price doesnt bother you its a no brainer...

most can be run with just a bearing repack so you know their condition...and a once over on the light/wiring. then let the buildup begin. nothing really goes wrong with these things, they're simple military units. nothin' fancy...

whatever you do, dont leave empty handed!

both of them look pretty good actually, but it all depends on the rust.

I'd maybe even buy the one you don't wind up with! check out the rust situation, buy the best one, and tell the seller there's a line starting for the other one!

oh I want one!!!!

:D

Shane let me know if the other one is in good condition, as i want one for my 40 :D

Ill PM you his number
