Here are some pictures of a battery box setup I did up for my M 416 trailer. I found a plastic box in my garage and found it held two Gp 27 96 AH batteries. I mounted the batteries in the box wired them in parallel added a 2 AH charger/floater to charge and maintain the batteries.

Great. Thanks for the post. I'm looking to do something similar once I find the right trailer! Looking for an M101, M416, or similar in Denver.

I wonder if a GM 1-wire alternator mounted above the top rear of the trailer with a fan blade on it would catch enough wind on the highway to charge the batteries?

Don't laugh - Smokey Yunick used to do this with some of his dirt track cars, putting the alternator in the grill opening with a fan blade.

Sorry still going to laugh! :D

I can see how it might work, but you can also run a wire from your existing alternator and skip the whole windmill effect. The top of that box would be about the perfect size for a solar panel as well.

Brian, have you seen the little windmills for power that you can raise up on an RV or tent trailer? Same idea I guess, do you have any pics of the setup you are talking about?

mep1811, any more info on the gauge you are using, where did you get it at?

Thanks!
