I just got a 2013 LX570 with about 145k miles on it. When I bought it I knew that it had a leak at the transfer case. I have cleaned it up and can tell that it is leaking where the adapter connects to the transfer case between the TC and the transmission. I am considering taking it to a shop to get it fixed but I am also thinking about doing it myself. Surprisingly, the Car Care Nut just posted a video last week where he fixes this same leak on a GX460. In that video he is able to separate the TC from the transmission and just drop the TC. My question is, can anyone confirm that the TC on an LX570 be dropped while leaving the transmission in place? I assume it can since they are very similar drive trains but I would like to confirm. If this is the case I am much more likely to do the repair myself. If anyone has any other tips or suggestions I would appreciate it.

The Car Nut video gave me the confidence I needed to do this. I finally got time to tackle it today. Thanks to @GrouchyTech for confirming that this would be similar to the video. I pretty much followed all the steps the car care nut did but I did not remove the exhaust. The shaft is a little different on the LX than what he shows in the video so I feel like I was less likely to damage the transmission seal that he mentioned being a worry on the GX. Overall it took me about 9 hours working by myself but I wasn’t in a rush. The hardest part was separating the case from the transmission and then resticking it. But it wasn’t too bad. I’m posting a few pictures in case anyone else has to do this.
