Hey guys, dropping in at my local 4x fabricator this Thursday to discuss the build. I'm going for round tubing design with kicker.

Need input on:
- Angled-up vs. flat (I have little ones)
- Welded sliders on to the frame vs. bolted
- DOM vs. HREW
- Powder coat vs. other finishing

Looking forward to some input from the forum. Thank you!

I am running the Bud Built sliders with the kicker. I have young kiddos and the angled up works great. The angled up is my preference, looks better and most importantly gives a little more clearance when wheeling. They use DOM and are powercoated matte black. Dings and scratches are easily covered with rattle can. Their bolt on design was a huge plus for me.

Thank you for your input. I like Budbuilt but they don't make sliders for the LX. I'm also leaning towards angled for the same reason. I'll know more about the install direction once I know the weld points.

With the right fabrication you could certainly weld some on the LX. I would just make sure you incorporate a way to remove and service the AHC components if needed.

My CBI sliders should be arriving this week, have you looked at those? I have three young children as well and these looked to be ideal for them to step on.

At least one member (@MILOWILLI) has welded on custom sliders to an LX. You can search up their post without too much digging.
I'm curious how many hours the fab shop bids the work at . . . I had a shop look at mine in 2018 and they estimated 16 hours+ material, wasn't fixed (I'd have had to pay for overage). That started a long slider search that finally culminated in the Metaltech 4x4 LX570 product.

How are you intending on using the truck? Do you want basic protection or bomb proof?

You should call Bud and ask him if they have4 a modified version for the LX, bet ya an ice cream sammich....

It's been a hot minute since I read it, but my recollection is that Budbuilt never got past the prototype stage on LX sliders.

I have the slee LX sliders. At the time they were the first to market. I actually waited about a year to get them. Slee is obviously top notch, and the sliders are bomber. They actually look stock, not one person has ever thought they were aftermarket. The lights under them are cool too.

But im not going to lie, im not a big fan of the style. I really like the angled up style with the kick out. I bought the only ones I could at the time but I would have picked a more aggressive/less luxury look if I could have. That being said, my opinion is purely cosmetic, slee has never put their name on a bad product. But yeah, I wouldn’t buy them today based on style alone

Most of your questions really come down to personal opinion. You’re going to get answers all over the place. You have to decide what you want in a slider and which looks best to you.

I personally prefer bolt on as it’s always easier to go back to stock or move to something else in the future if you change your mind. Unlike others in this post, I don’t like the kick out or angle up. I had the Slee tube sliders on my previous ‘16 LC and have the Slee formed LX sliders on my ‘18 LC. They have different finishes (LX ones are texture powder coated) and I like the looks of them both.

I favor bolt on sliders over welded on.

The ability to take them off for paint repairs or other maintenance issues, especially with AHC would be important to maintain. If they are welded on they will be in the way eventually.

I typically like the angled up slider look but on the 200 I prefer the look of flat sliders. The kickout gives an added protectction but again, I don't prefer it aesthetically. I wouldn't go welded on, especially not with the AHC system.

Set up as a touring vehicle and occasional technical terrain (85/15). Mainly intended for protection (rated) and ground clearance.

I have opportunities to buy slee sliders but just couldn't justify the price I'm getting with the formed design. If I want a stock look I will just keep what I have right now

Around 2 days turnaround. I will know the details as far as pricing tomorrow.
