I disagree, the cameras are for safety. I have seen several accidents where a vehicle pulls slowly out of a blind garage/driveway and still gets hit by oncoming vehicles/bicyclists. The rear camera helps prevent running over children on their big wheels or animals. And the side camera is just a bonus and can be used for spotting rocks and tight spots.
^^ as a father, I totally agree about the rearview camera...use it all the time. I'm just not so sure about the side and front view cameras. It wasn't something that I was interested in.
By the way, what's with "Hoser" and "Take off, eh!"? You better be a transplanted Canadian in California, otherwise there are trademark and infringement rights, eh.

I guess Toyota figured this would be a Lexus only option since those owners will never have a use for it other than pulling out of parking garages, malls, etc. Would be helpful on the trails, but not a deal breaker I don't guess. I guess the AHC is inoperable with KDSS? That is curious why it would not be offered on the US spec LC.
That doesn't appear to be the case. I saw a TV ad (I think somebody posted it to this site), which I believe was from Australia, that explicitly said you could have AHC + KDSS + AVS. In the US, of course, you can have KDSS on the Cruiser or AHC/AVS plus something similar to XREAS instead of KDSS on the LX.
I think it's disappointing that you can't have all the goodies on the same vehicle here.
that's a really cool feature. I could see the offroad application as it would be nice to have the pass. side camera on tight sections of trail.
I think it's a legit safety upgrade. Sometimes, it is a leap of faith to move forward in some urban situations.
The one thing is the distortion of the 180 lens makes depth perception non-existent but really, just to "see" if the coast is clear, it's nice.
Anyway, it's the definition of luxury- all the little bling items that no one else has.

Yep. As an impending father at the time, the rearview camera and Bluetooth were the reasons I waited for the `04 over the `03. And I didn't want a Lexus with AHC.
