Sorry for all the newb questions of late.

With winter coming, may see some mud on paths in addition to the wet ground lakeside.

I have hitch shackles for the rear. Are the factory front loops good for recovery or just for tow tie down? Not expecting to be 'knee deep' in mud but just enough to get stuck / no traction. The straps I have are non-kinetic (I thought that would be safer and sufficient for my anticipated stuck situations).

If not good for recovery, is there a general recommendation for front recovery loops / shackles?

forward facing front loops are for recovery, front loops facing down are for tie downs

And kinetic straps would be better for a snatch recovery.

Thanks. I didn't see the mention and haven't visually seen front down facing loops in the manual. I've seen the front forward facing loops. If that's good for recovery shackles and straps, that's good news. Thanks!

Really its two pcs. that are held together as one unit, until separated by removing the bolts that hold them on. Ditch the tie down or leave it on - your choice. Some guys on here including myself have painted the recovery hooks / loops bright red for two reasons, it looks nicer and is easier to locate a brightly colored object than it is a dark object.
