LX570 2008 Oil Level Questions (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I have a question regarding my '08 LX570.

Regularly, my dipstick shows differences between both sides when parked on flat surfaces and car also stays flat. One side could show oil markings as low as the first dot, while the other shows significantly higher results. To be on the safe side, I am always taking for correct measure the lower side and top up according to it.
Does anyone else have experienced similar behavior, and what causes it?

On the other hand, according to the manual of the car, the car does not have a low oil light. Neither does it pop up with the ignition on when everything lights up on the dash. However, I have seen several posts online about the 1st generation LX570 saying that it has one, and once the oil level gets low, it warns you.
Is it the thing that is not a typical light on the dash but a notification on the center board computer display with the ODO like the one for the low washer fluid?

Can someone please confirm or show/share such an image with the notification?

There is a low oil light, but I don't know exactly when it comes on... definitely you'd need to be at least one quart low.

I assume when you say both sides you mean front and back of the dipstick. Ignore the back side as I think sometimes oil will end up smeared on the back side as you slide it out of the tube.

You probably know and do this but to check the oil do it when cold (ideally sitting overnight), parked on a level spot. Pull the dipstick, wipe it with a clean lint-free cloth, then re-insert and re-remove and check it. It should be between the two dots (ideally at the top one). Note that new oil may be very light in color so it's sometimes hard to see exactly how high it is on the dipstick.

I haven't seen it on the dash, as well as oil level being that low.
Thank you for the tips. I do follow all of them, considered as "best practice" for reading an engine oil level. Anyway, there is still a difference between both sides of the dipstick - front and back which I can't explain.

No difference between these for US-market. Both the land cruiser and the LX had the 3UR. And confirming above, there is a "check engine oil level" message that will trigger.

Exactly same scenario, thanks for the link!
However, still not clear what causes it and how to read it correctly...
Anyway, as already few people confirmed that there is a low oil level message/alert/notification or whatever I guess I should not be overthinking it...
