Anyone know a fix for this? @offr0adlim0 came by yesterday and helped sort out the ABS issues. We unlocked some more gremlins.

And whilst taking off the electrical tape from the covered up VGRS light, I bumped the speedo needle. I put it back in place. Drove it. Worked fine.

Came out this am and it was down at 6 again. I don't remember there being a "stop" for it. And don't see where a peg would have been. the needle still works, it just reads about 30mph too slow....

Any ideas?

ok. i messed with the needle a little more last night, here is what i found...

i can open it up and re-position the needle, drive, and all seems fine. when i stop the needle stays at the -0- position...

cut the truck off and all seems well also....however, about 2-3 minutes after shutting everything off, it seems as if there is a signal that goes to the speedo and it clicks downward.....

any help would be appreciated.....

I had issues with the instrument cluster on my 2002 LC a few years ago when I replaced the bulbs inside with LED's. After I buttoned it up and plugged it back in, a few of the gauges worked while others didn't. It turns out the problem was caused by the bundle of wires not being plugged in tight enough when I put it back together. It didn't look loose, but I had to really push hard to make sure every connector connected. Not sure if this is what's causing your issue, but could be worth a look. Good luck.

thanks. i ordered a new piece of tinted plastic, as age had made the thin tabs very brittle. i will go back in and look into that as well. unfortunately i didnt pull the whole cluster out....simply pulled it enough to get to the bottom tab, nothing was unhooked to do what i did...

If it remained sort of connected while you adjusted the pointer AND you say that it works ok after adjustment but then drops down a couple of minutes after you turn the vehicle off - like a signal tells it to - then I'm thinking you might try pulling the fuses to the combination meter and the body electrical ECU (could be #1 that drives this). It's conceivable there is an electronic misalignment between the vehicle speed signal, the ECU and the combination meter. Won't cost you anything to do a master reset so it's worth a shot imo.

tried this reset as well. it didnt work. it's like it resets itself every time the car is turned off and totally powers down.. weird.
I have the same problem. Tach is 200 rpm too low and temp gauge is too low after taking out my cluster to replace a bulb. Gauges flicker and pull during start or open door. Pulled cluster a bunch of times and tried to re seat the connections. No dice.

I may have. Unfortunately after I nudge them back in place, they continue to flicker after cold start and then drop. Have a gauge cluster specialist looking at it tomorrow. Will report back.
