LX470 question... Has anyone ever removed the yellow egg yolk turn signal caps in the rear lights?

I was replacing the bulb for my brake/running lights today and I noticed that the egg yolk turn signal is just a cap inside the turn signal assembly. If it were separated, you could simply unscrew it and remove it but it is, of course, sealed shut. Instead of cracking it open, would it be feasible to shatter the inner yellow cap and remove the pieces through the socket hole?

You can remove it. There’s a lot of ways to do it, one is as you mentioned you can shatter using a sharp tool but it’s the least popular one - but doable if you want to avoid opening it up. What’s wrong with that amber cap? Is it melted or deformed? It’s there to diffuse the light making it more concentrated to increase visibility when that light is on.

It works fine, it's just purely for aesthetic reasons. I just hate the egg yolk look. I'd rather replace it with an amber LED bulb or, worst case, a chrome covered amber bulb.

You can but you must replace it with a red or amber bulb.
It’s illegal to have a rear mounted flashing lights.

We'll, yes, that's why I was looking at the LED lights as they are white/silver and don't produce the egg yolk effect.
