Hi all,

So I recently went on a trip in Northern Australia and unfortunately while I was on a dirt road an oncoming road train (large truck) flicked up a nice piece of iron ore and smashed my drivers side (RH) headlight. In Australia the Lexus dealership quoted me $1875 and second hand lights start at $750 if you can find one.

I ended up ordering a RH headlight from Lexuspartsonline and it doesn't quite work, the main headlight plug and hole thing is different. So I could maybe solve this by ordering some more US based parts and get an auto-electrician to make sure the wiring is good. However upon further reading, the headlights are designed differently for countries that drive on the right hand side of the road (America) than those that drive on the left hand side (Australia - where I live).

Unfortunately I took to long to try install the light and I missed out on the 30 day return period by a day.

So herein lies the question, does someone know if there's a way to make my current US LX470 headlight work? Can I adjust the angling of the lights and frankenstein it to work with what I have now.

Further info:
Part number of the headlight that's in my possession: 81130-6A082 - $750 new posted to Australia
Part number I need: 81130-6A091 or 81130-6A090 - $1875 new in Australia

Also in the case it's useless to me does anyone want a RH LX470 Headlight we can work out a cheap price.

Thanks in advance.

What year is the headlight for that you ordered? Unfortunately I can’t answer your question but I am interested in the headlight if you have to end up selling it and it works in my 2001 lx470

You'd have to be confident baking the headlight, removing the projector, and modifying the shield to change from LHD to RHD. Definitely a lot of work!

Partsouq has if it for 1059. Impex doesn't have it.

It would fall under comprehensive coverage in the US...may make sense to leverage insurance.

Call Lexuspartsonline and see if they'll make exception on timing.

This might work if you have your old housing parts still (mainly the reflector, I'd think). PITA likely, but it's easy enough to do.

Yeah I’ve still got the parts, unfortunately due to all the glass shattering the silver reflective material is only about 1/2 present on the old unit.

Yeah I was thinking to leverage insurance but I thought I could fix it for the same price as my excess which would make life simpler. Hasn’t turned out that way. Calling lexuspartsonline is a bit difficult internationally I’ll wait for there response to my most recent email first

Hey mate, it’s for a 1998 so should work for you. If you’re in the US and need it for the RH side. Look up the part number to be sure. I’ll definitely be happy to sell it to you, but making a few more attempts with LexusPartsOnline first.

I’ll look it up tonight. And no worries, just keep me in mind if returning or refurbishing it doesn’t work out. Thanks.

If the projector itself is not damaged you can swap it over to your new lamp. The reflector is a separate trim panel if you will it does not actually affect the throw of the headlight and can be kept on the new one.

Yes the projector itself is fine, so you suggest if I swap the projector from the old part to the new one? It should be okay?
