LX470/AHC + Airbags?

I'm running Airlift 1000 bags as are others around here. Super easy install and increase load carrying by 1000lbs over stock when inflated. They slide inside the stock spring.

Hey Taco - thanks for posting your install images. Can i assume the system you have installed is this?

Air Lift 1000

They don't have a Lexus listed to select from, but i assume the Toyota Land Cruiser spec is what everyone is picking up for use with the AHC?
Can you confirm? By chance do you have any before and after pics? I plan on installing a couple trim spacers as well.

What I run on our 06 LX470

They help a lot even if you choose to tow stupid (not recommended)

Ya those are the ones I used. They should have a Land Cruiser set listed but these are the ones I bought and installed Amazon.com: AIR LIFT 60728 1000 Series Rear Air Spring Kit: Automotive

I actually towed mine to the dealer the other day and WOW, what a difference. The truck is noticeably firmer and much less floaty with the trailer hooked up. My suspension maintained "N" also. My trailer is a Coachmen Apex 288bhs with a dry weight of 4800lbs. Now it's not empty right now but we have taken a lot out of it for the winter so the weight is probably somewhere around 5200. Fully loaded I'm very close to 6200 and it handled fine without the bags, I can't wait to see how it does with! It doesn't tow like a Mack or a freight liner as some would say you need to safely tow a travel trailer but it does very well as long as you take your time and plan accordingly by looking down the road. You aren't going to break any speed records towing with the 100 but you'll get there in some serious style....

There is no height difference with the bags installed and deflated to 5psi.

Got my airlift system installed on the LX this past weekend. Great difference in ride quality, expecially going over bumps and potholes. Looking at the install directions that came with the kit, it says to only run the bags at 35 psi. Correct me if i am wrong but that number would change with weight added to it. I.E. if you add a trailer the tongue weight will increase the psi of the bag. So question is, what do you run the bags at on your rig, and is that before or after weight it added?

Also i didn't see really any lift in the truck, did anyone else notice any height change?

I'm running airlift bags while towing even when offroading. I believe you're supposed to add air prior to adding weight. Max 35 and no less than 5lbs. I usually run 22. I did lose some pressure on some major articulation but that was once.

Couple guys on here with bags, any issues? What about offroad? Looking to help my ahc after adding bumpers and a roof box

Anyone? I too have the question above. I just got back from Death Valley (which was awesome) and it would not stay on "H" when going over Mengal Pass, and Steel Pass. I have an 06 LX 470, have both King Springs and spacers and I'm still not near spec. I mean yes, I do have drawers, 4x4 labs rear with the spare and Jerry cans, sliders, RTT and roof rack, ARB front bumper with a winch. I love AHC and really want to keep it.

I still haven’t had a problem with my airlifts pulling my trailer or going off road.

I go to low, but the rear is just a little higher than the rear. N is fine and I have neutral pressure. I can get to high when I need to but I don’t do the high lift if that’s what you mean.

So there's no problem cycling through from low to high in AHC and leaving it?

I know this is a bit off topic, but there seem to be a lot of people here who understand the AHC system much better than I do. My LX 470 will go quite high but the indicator never goes above 'N'. And the ride is not great--not as good as my 100. Speed bumps in parking lots are annoying bumpy in the LX. I've replaced the pump, and replaced all four globes; fluid level is fine. One of the posters here also mentioned not being able to get to "H". Can anyone here illuminate for us all as what the failure mechanisms are for 'not getting to H'?
