Hi Guys
Has anyone used a standalone dash mounted Android Auto capable screen and or a digital dash OBD2 style unit as my instrument cluster is fried and can't be repaired. All I have is the normal warning lights but nothing else works and expect a new unit is like finding a unicorn at a supermarket. Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated so I can get some functionality.

ScanGauge 3 might get you by.

I've got Torque Pro (Android) which grabs data from the BT ELM327 OBDII reader, via the T'eyes CC3. Here's a screenshot (from my previous hunjy however you get the idea):

If you want to leave the existing ML head unit, look at something like a Carpuride?

Thats odd - would like to get more info on why the instrument cluster got fried? and why don't you think it can be fixed?

FWIW, the clusters can be rebuilt. It's spendy, around $700ish for a full rebuild from Tanin Auto Electric.

In lieu of that kind of expense, though, the options mentioned here would definitely cover your main bases. Speed, temp, volts, trans temp. And of course you can cycle through any others on the fly.

Thanks for the replies. It was sent to a specialist repair shop for assessment for repair but it was beyond repair and these guys have been in the business for 40 years so I have to take them at their word. Its being sent back so I can run the car again plus I also found a used that is being sent over this week, but as I live in the largest mining hole in the ground (Australia) everyone is supposed to be a millionaire so whatever it costs in the USA at least double it then add for the exchange rate. Its ultimately my own fault (or a nasty coincidence) as the only cable/plug I didn't remove was the canbus single coloured cables and it had weeks to corrode and short. But at least I have all the other items working again
