For the new owner, however, the customer service experience is like night and day when comparing Toyota to Lexus sales and service departments.


I'll take my extra $10k, pocket $9k and take the rest to the local booby bar if I need some extra "customer service" :flipoff2:

:doh: Here I am being mouthy about 20% extra and I had forgotten about the 3 out of 4 sliding window bonus package .... factoring that into the equation, I'd say a 25% increase is in order

Today's lesson is to shop around a little when making $50k purchases, sheeesh!
 
My 97' LX has four sliding windows. Don't know why, I can't imagine that the PO cared enough to swap it. The truck is bone stock. That being siad I still can't understand paying $10,000 extra dollars for a disc change, a sub-woofer (as nice as it sounds) and nicer leather and fake wood. Did the LC come with a first aid kit? Tha might do it, safety first ya know.

The extra 10 grand pays for all the butt-kissing they do at the dealership when you buy and when you get your vehicle serviced. It also covers the free loaner car you'd get when they have yours in the shop. I bought mine as a certified, pre-owned from the dealership, so I paid a non-premium price for my rig, but got all the butt-kissing thrown in -- to some, it might be worth the extra $$$
 
Aaaaaaaarrgggggg! I didn't get the leather cover for the manual or the pen! I got SCREWED!

The Toyota dealer up here isn't known for their customer service. Before I had this LX I was treated very poorly. Now that I have the Lexus they treat me very differently. I think that sucks.
 
up here at the same price, LX had 15-20k less miles on it.

make that up very quickly before you find 'mud = $500 for 60k service at Toyota stealer vs. $950 at Lexus stealer. :confused: "Hello, Toyota......?"
 
Here where im at the LX is cheeper also and they always seem to have lower miles on them.
They usually have all the service records too.
In my opinion the difference's between the to don't equal 10k but I do like the looks of the LX
better, so its cheeper, has less miles, better service records and looks better "to me" thats a no-brainer.
 
I got my pen tucked away in the holder in the binder, it still writes after 9 years, Now that is Lexus/Toyota reliability, :)

the OM binder also has a handy spot to store buisness cards for contcts needed ifor the cruiser.

The other benefit to the LX 450 -- any Lexus dealership can pull service records for your 450...all work performed by a Lexus dealership, that is.
 
I did a search of ALL 96-97 Land Cruisers (175) nationwide, and the average asking price was $14,545. I did the same for the 96-97 LX450 (151) and the average price is $15,299 which is $754 higher than the LC.

The outrageously low/high prices are thrown out. However what was included is a $44k LC. The highest asking price for a LX was $25.5k and lowest LC price was $5k (which looked like a suspicious ad) and the lowest LX was $9950.

Sure, it's not an exact science but at least it's some data. The LX is worth $754 more than a Land Cruiser :flipoff2:
 
What was the median value of each data set ? (middle value)

Not trying to be a pain but just curious.

Autotrader doesn't list all the statistical data--just high/low and average. I was also curious about the median values but didn't want to input the 376 numbers.

Go to autotrader.com and you can reduce the sample size to 300 miles of your zip code and see what the average is in your part of the country.
