I'm looking to put remote start on my LX450. I have the factory alarm of course but would like to add Remote Start.

Alarm w/remote start

Well I have had my on my 96 LC since I bought it back in 2006 w/only 26.000 miles.I have never had any problems w/it perhaps one time if you can call that a "problem" bad battery when and got a new one Diehard platinum group size 31M.So any how I got a Viper alarm system 479 V/P/C old but still works. So if I ever decide in a newer model I would check on viper alarm systems 1st.just my 0.2 cents .Hope this helps.

x2 on the Viper Alarm/Remote Start I have had one since 2007 and have never had a problem. I would like to upgrade so that I could use the smart start app for iPhone/Android, but no reason to yet.

x3 on the Viper if you are going to do it.

I would like to add that any Directed alarm would be the way to go. They are the best at it. Viper, Python, Clifford, Wasp, Hornet are all made by Directed/DEI. I don't like the way 2 way functionality as the remote tends to be a little bigger and the batteries drain faster. So yes x4 (on viper etc)

As far as the install, I have done electronics and car audio professionally for quite some time but I HATE doing alarms/remote starts. My advice/.0000002 is:

1. Have a certified professional do the install (MECP certified silver/gold/master)
2. Make sure they diode isolate your doorlock wiring so there isn't a feedback loop

Note on #2, most shops will not do it even though DEI calls for it on our vehicles on their respective wiring site. Diode isolation takes an extra five minutes in an install scenario and sometimes people just are too lazy to do it properly. Also, look into having the wires solder applied and heat shrink wrapped instead of T-taps and butt connected diodes. I have seen installs were some jack @$$ didn't use the proper gauge tap and ended up cutting the wires instead of tapping them. The reason that taps are used is for the speed of install.

Sorry for the verbose post.

Hopefully this helps a little bit.

i was just in Proline in brooklyn and the sales guy wants me to install this one: C3-RS-730, they wanted $500 installed for it and was telling me that it was just as good as the viper they had for $700 installed, mind you im not broke i came in looking at the viper and he down sold me . i have a deposit and an appointment to have this thing put in on thursday , this is for the remote start , alarm and gps tracking .
i think i remember now that the Viper doesnt have an ignition kill switch? maybe thats why he talked me into the autopage system?

All good suggestions, Viper it is then. Thank you all for the great input. I'll keep an eye out for the Diode installation too.
