My biggest disappointed in my 200 is the front seats (followed by the transmission tuning). I'm average sized, 5'10/163lbs, and there is no lateral support. When taking mountain passes at speed I just slide into the door or the center console.

The seats in my VW R are awesome and the seats in my GX 460 were pretty good. I rebuilt the seats in my FJ-62 myself with extra springs and really built up the lateral support which helped a lot. I've considered pulling the covers and adding foam but the LC 200 seats are so wide I'm skeptical it would help.

A co-worker with back problems put a set of Recaros in his 200 on custom mounts and they were awesome. I can fabricate mounts and may go the Recaro route at some point but for that much money I'll get a Harrop SC first.

But I got to thinking that maybe the LX seats are different/better than the LC and possibly a direct swap. GX seats were definitely better than the 4R I test drove.

Are the LX seats better than the LC seats? Has anyone looked into a swap?

LX seats are very nice and have good support.

Don't forget to post pics once you start the swap

Thanks! This is more of a back burner project. But I'm going to start looking for a recycler locally to get a feel for prices. I've also got a large Recaro dealer near me so I'm going to talk to them about mounts. Recaros seem to start at less than I remember and it has been at least 5 years since my coworker had his done.

there was a thread on FaceBook by a guy that swapped a LX drivers seat into his 200. was pretty much plug and play. he did have to have the dealer reflash the ECU for the airbags to read the Lx part number vs. the toyota one.

he got the seat off Ebay. it was around 1500$ with shipping.
i wanted to do this swap for the cooled seats, but the amount of additional controllers and harnesses required to upgrade an 08 was beyond my level of effort.

I don't mean to revive this thread from the dead, but I'm curious as to what the outcome was. For context, I have a 2014 LX 570 and I find that the seats are not very comfortable. I'm coming from a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg, which for me was great. I could drive all day long (and actually did) on those seats.

Similarly, I remember when I visited my mother, I drove her 2023 GX, and I don't remember feeling fatigued at all in those seats.

I don't know if it's lack of support, or the fact that to me, the seats feel too firm, especially in the butt. I'm not working with much back there so firm seats and a bony butt seem to be causing a bit of fatigue.

I'm in the Atlanta area and also looking at aftermarket/custom foam/upholstery options

I also forgot to mention that, oddly enough, I sat in the backseat, and even those feel more comfortable than the driver seat and front passenger seat seat. Granted, I haven't sat in them for any extended period of time, but on first sit, the back bench feels more comfortable than the front seat, right off the bat.
