Hi gang,
Any info on antanna motors going out on '97 lx450's. My buddies won't go up or down any more.
Thanks.

When he uses the button, can he hear the motor trying to work? If he can it's the mast that needs to be replaced. Most likely the plastic cable the the motor coils up broke somewhere. If he can't hear the motor then I'm guessing it's the motor or the connection to the motor.

Yes we need to replace the mast. We've got power.

I've got a spare working motor assembly from a 91 if anyone wants it. The antenna lead has been cut and the cable is broke off inside but the motor works.

CruiserDan or other parts guy:

Anyone got a price on the mast and or a good website to order from, same thing happened to mine...also do you just pop the cap off the outside, take the old one out and feed the new one in?

Barrypt5, willmaxr, and devo,

There are dozens of post here in the 80 section of IH8MUD detailing everything you need to know. This is a very common issue with the power antenna. In fact, mine has been broken and repaired twice since I've owned the truck. It broke again a few months ago... I haven't gotten around to the repair...

* Part numbers of the mast (varies by manuf date)
* Suggested list prices (C-Dan gives us a big discount off of published list)
* Details on how to repair (varies by type of mast... manuf date)

May I suggest that these be included in the FAQ?

Familiarity breeds contempt! SIR :princess:

I had the same problem and Cruiser Dan sold me the mast. That white Nylon crap broke. Easy to install and now works fine.
