lx let me down (crash)

Too many variables such as tire condition, brake condition, steering input, speed, etc. for me to voice an educated opinion.

Truck looks fixable and you walked away from the accident. Not too bad.

I agree with Chow, don't loose control of your vehicle and skid or roll in order to avoid a straight on impact. The vehicle will take much more damage in front than the side or roof without harming the passengers.

The older trucks without VSC are much harder or almost impossible to get back into line once the rear slides out beside you. That's probably the primary advantage of the newer 100s, in my opinion.

One thing I learned from owning an Audi and attending their drivers' schools -- go experience extreme handling for yourself on a track and in a controlled setting, before you have to handle it on the road with passengers and other cars around you.

My 99 TLC is a brick once it gets away -- almost impossible to recover. Therefore, I drive much more carefully since I *know* that from personal experience.

hello it me again sorry i have been working a lot and unable to use the internet ok my lx is a 99 it does not have the vsc which might have helped the place where the accident happenedis notorious for these type of things which is kinda why i blame myself i should have been going slower and i did see the guy coming fast and i knew he was gonna slide over into my lane the place where it happened is ona fairly sharp curve where to highways intersect and its down hill so i had several things going against me. my statement of letting me down should be clairified once i started sliding sideways i pushed and pushed on those brakes but like some one else said a 6000lb truck will take some space to stop and i did not have the space. yes i am very happy i am ok and a plus from the body shop the guy said the truck held up well some of the ac condes and radiator got damaged but no other engine stuff involed it looks very ugly but fixable

Run33 that good news having a fixable truck!

With the new info you just gave about conditions I can say that I would DOUBT that VSC would have saved you from the wreck.

I'm a HUGE advocate for VSC. In fact, I play with the system and it's amazing at how it takes over. I can blast down loose dirt roads at wild speeds, hit a corner, and intentionally slammmmm the brakes. When the rear starts the slide the beeper beeps and that thing corrects itself perfectly. I've tried this in my 80 a few times on safer curves and almost trashed the thing. I was no substitute for VSC.

In your case, you have ALL negatives. The one that leads me to believe VSC would not have been enough was the fact you were going downhill. (let alone fast and turning and on the brakes) Gravity rules!

Hope they do a great job on your LX! Look it over with a magnifier when it'd done!
