Right after I picked up my 2010 LX I took off the rear tailgate badging - I think it looks better and less places to hold dirt.

I think it would be neat to try a decal or badge on the tailgate that says "LX Cruiser" or maybe LuX Cruiser" or "Lx Cruiser" (not sure which one looks better) using the same font as the Land Cruiser logo. Could place it on the chrome strip along the bottom of the liftgate if decal, or if metal on the lower corner of the tailgate.

Anyone have experience with custom decal companies they could recommend? Or someplace to do a metal laser or CNC badge?

To me, the hardest part of buying the LX570 was not having the chrome strip on the back which reads "Land Cruiser". I spent at least 6 months wondering if I should buy the Land Cruiser chrome strip, remove the LX chrome strip and get some kind of custom body shop to attach & do whatever it took to make it look stock.

Good luck on finding a solution that fits your needs.

Yup, hair dryer with fishing line or dental floss.
Agree but then there is a lot of adhesive leftover - for that you need a rubber wheel on a drill to remove it which can be purchased at most auto stores.

I get the branding and modding thing. Just want to offer another perspective that even though our intents are good, from an outsider perspective, it looks tacky. Unless it's a complete job like a AEV or Singer. Anything less is just...

Consider all the other cars you've come across. With ///M, or ____ turbo. Well intentioned but contrived and posing at best.

I'd say leave it as is or take it off.

That's just my opinion though. Carry on.

Yeah agree, really just thinking a small sticker that would be more of a funny take on the Land Cruiser logo. More funny than serious badging.

I gotta ask....what is the safe and proven method for removing badges? The ol' fishing line trick?

I use this: Rustoleum Decal and Adhesive remover

I have been using the same can for years and works very well. Spray over, let soak, and peel off whatever you want to remove. Great for debadging IMO. Cleans all the sticky gunk off also.

Thanks, was thinking about the 4WD, but honestly not wild about the TEQ - history is cool but I just don't care for the design.

^Now that's legit

No wheel needed. I just use goo-gone on a microfiber rag then re-wax.

I agree. I use Bug and Tar Remover and a rag - same result.

HTH

I worked on my adhesive for 15 minutes and only got about half of it so I remembered I had the wheel and that took about 1 minute to get it completely clean. They work really well!

Hi electro how did you get toyodiy to display pics?

FWIW - here are sizes for 2011 rear/front decals for a 2011 model year LX570 — would love to see custom decals for those spaces. The LX badging anywhere on the LX itself is overkill. Anyone who knows the cruiser is going to be able to distinguish it from a Toyota, so Toyota badging seems more appropriate and more fun for an understated look. It’s not misrepresenting or posing, it’s just understating. Like introducing yourself by your rank or last name. If
