Short story: Came home to find the driver side clearance light hanging by its wires. The tab that it slides into had snapped off somehow.

So what are the options to fixing this? I have been using clear tape for a while now and while it's a stupid solution it's been working. I'm thinking about just gluing that bitch in there and being done with it...

Anyway, that being said, I'd like to get it permanently repaired for preferably cheap (300+ is what the new assembly runs (Lexus part 81170-60802))

I saw these and am tempted to pick them up. Anyone have any experience with them?

Other options appreciated (especially how to repair the flimsy plastic tabs).

I like 'em, or the HID version in chrome or maybe black... http://www.protuninglab.com/hidxe98lelxc.html

Anyone with experience with them...am I looking at something that will last or maybe more cheap Chinese stuff??

Flood, thanks for the lead.

Steve

Sorry for the minor hijack, but does anybody have these installed on their LC? Pics?

If it's not OEM, do not install it on a LX, or LC. Our aftermarket headlight options are the worst I have ever seen. The lens on the aftermarket headlight assemblies will fade and crack within a year, the beam pattern is terrible, and the reliability of the internals is questionable out of the box.

The plastic tabs on mine perished and cracked leaving it hanging like yours - a common problem with the design that I guess got fixed eventually when Tojo went to single piece front lights.

Anyway, I found that i could drill the remaining stubs of the tabs and used cable ties to pull it tight into the space where it belongs and it has been going fine like that for a while.

I could not find any aftermarket ones, and the US suppliers didn't want to ship to Australia - plus I hate the US style lights that have the orange in them (we just have clear in Aus).

Cheers,
Andrew.

I stopped by a hardware store, got some metal strap and grabbed some screws. Made a bracket to hold both tabs on. Been good for over two years now.
