ok figured I would start a new thread so when others do a search this will op up easily.
so I am looking into a new harness for wilma, I figure I am a couple of months away from needing it but wanted to get rolling on it.
here is what I have a 64' lv and an 87 desmogged 2f
so far what I have found availible from the different cruiser venders is the painless harness as seen here at Man-a-fre
http://www.man-a-fre.com/parts_accessories/wiringharnessfj40.htm
and the Centech Harness
http://www.centechwire.com/catalog/off-road/gv10a.shtml
I grabbed a bunch of the harness from the donor fj60 but I think I would rather just harvest the connectors I need from it and start with a new one. any opinions or recommendations??
thanks Jason

Jason, I will most likely go with the Painless from what I have seen. The only other thing we may do is keep what we started with bc it is amazingly well preserved, still soft and pliable and add to it. What I do like about the Painless, other than its supposed "Painless" installation, is the fact that I will have a modern fuse block and I think this makes the most sense given the amount of work we are putting into these trucks. I want to end up with a very reliable driver.

I used an EZ-21 harness on the lv.

Very easy to use and all the wires were marked very clearly. Quality seemed great and we had it wired a lot faster than I thought. Price was right also, I think $169?

Friend of mine bought a Ron Francis harness.......not good, even he wouldn't buy it again.

Matt, where do you buy an EZ-21 harness? Sound nice. Painless is in the $400.00 range.

I looking to buy a new wire harness for my LV also. I was talking with a guy who just built a '35 hot rod and told him I was probably going to go with the Painless and he suggested that I go with the EZ. He said it was just as good at half the price.

I think I got mine off ebay? Now that I see EZ's price at $165 I might have got mine for $155 or something like that.....

I got the colored one, all the wires are marked down the wire..so if you grab a wire anywhere you can read it. Once nice thing also is that they basicly pattern it after a GM block and harness. I used that IDIDT steering column which has a GM connector coming out of it. The EZ kit just plugged right into it, so that was pretty simple there.

If I needed another harness i would buy another EZ one in a hearbeat.
