I've had a problem with blowing out pistons on both of my remaunufactured front calipers after less then a year of them being on the truck....

could the valve be the cause? Or is it just a bad cores? Should I take my truck to toyota after I put all my new brakes on for them to adjust this, it seems like you need some prssure gauges and stuff I don't have...

any help would be great
thanks
Eric

i would guess piss poor rebuild...
where did you get them? how long ago? what was the warranty?

I got them from 4 wheel auto, they were beautiful calipers, and the outer seals were still perfect, I just don't understand it, It makes me feel like i'm at fault somehow or my truck did it, as I was told they've never had another complaint....
it was just under a year I believe or around there, about 40000km's or less.... No warranty as far as I know, I told Dan what happened, and I got them from carquest this time, they are also beautiful reman's, I got a discount because I have a connection and I got them next day. Should I put any grease on the seals, or to keep the back of the pad or piston from rusting?

any other tips for anything brake related I'm doing everything.... hope to have it done by the end of next week....

thanks for your input Wayne, although I was hoping it would be something rather then just a piss pour rebuild, Dan did say the same thing. Should I leave the valve alone?

LSPV has nothing to do with this. It just regulates the pressure going to the rear in relation to the front, depending on how heavely the rig is loaded.
But what exactly happened. Where the seals blown? Scored walls? Overheating?
Why not just replaced the seals?

Use the proper 'grease' to avoid corrosion of the walls when putting things together.

what is proper grease....

the same piston on both sides was blown, they were rusty already and grundgy, for 65 bucks I figured why not get two remaned ones...

I realize that may seem stupid, but I just had an a moment I had no brakes, and I want everything perfect, this is my daily driver, and I'm re ding all the lines stainless, and all new brakes, I want everything perfect...

leave the valve alone...piss poor rebuild means there is nothing else i can suggest than piss poor rebuild...

fair enough, good in the way everything should work perfect when i'm done...

As always thanks...

Well 'the book' says: lithium soap base Glycol Grease'!
This lubricates and prevents corrosion of the pistons/cylinders .

Mind this is not ordinairy grease!!!! Do not apply multipurpose grease !!!
'Normal' MP-grease reacts with the seals and destroys them!

I just ask for grease for the brake-cylinders at the parts shop. What I get than is a blue-ish goo in a container for hydraulic brakes. Don't know the brand name and this might not be of any help anyway since I'm in the Netherlands.

Rusty after such a short time? Like Crusher said: pis poor....
When the stuff is corroded...get new/reman ones.
Don't mess with brakes

Not stupid at all. If the brakes don't do what they're supposed to do, your heart might stop doing what it's supposed to do!!!

ain't that the truth!!

Eric

Did both pistons blow their seals simultaneously?
I would have thought that one would blow and you would lose all pressure
