Hi all,
I'm doing some wiring on my FJ62.
Two questions- Where have you located your ODB2 port (inside the cab)? I can't really find a good place to put it.
Second question- I'm wiring in an LED MIL light. It's a two wire light. From what I have read, the wire from the ECU is a ground that makes the light circuit when the constant power is connected to the ECU ground. So, I am assuming that I tap into the ground to the ODB2 port, run it to the light, and connect the constant positive, I should have a functioning light. Does this sound familiar?

My understanding is you connect the MIL wire to one side of your "check engine light", and the other to one of the pink hot when IGN is on wires. The light will become active when the MIL wire goes to ground. For the OBD2 port, I would put it somewhere under the dash easy to reach.

I put mine right under my fuse box in my Fj60. It makes it easy to run a scan gauge!
The 62 has a gas door lever there or I would. I don’t use the gas door lever (broken) so maybe that’s where it should go. Thanks!

I’ll have to check if I ran a separate wire. Can’t remember. Thought it was just tap into the OBD2 wires. Thanks!

you could add a small bracket out of some flat metal and have it go to one side of it!

This is a good obd bracket. I copied it when I did mine and it works great/very easy to fab.

For the CEL i just put a meter on the two wires on the harness side of the bulb to identify which one went to ground, then attached the CEL wire from the standalone engine harness to the other wire. You could also trace that wire to the 3fe ecm and identify it that way.

like others have said there is a spot next to the hood release that is perfect for the obd2. for the light, if your harness didnt come with one built into it, you can just pull the wires from your 62 check engine light and run the ground to the mil and the other to any of the pink wires in the harness thats getting switched 12v+. I have a 60 so i had to use my old choke light and make a check engine light decal for it. that little orange check engine light next to the actual obd2 port kinda just came with the harness i used. It illuminates as well as my old choke light
