As a quick follow up- the passenger side was a bear to work with, the sway bar drop link was a major PITA to loosen and realign. Also, the CV boot has throwing grease, found a very small rip which I patched with a small piece of rubber and rubber cement, so far its holding but will have to watch it closely. The driver’s side was actually easy, no problems whatsoever and took only an hour or so.
For those who are considering switching out shocks and springs I’d suggest a couple things I wish I would have had. 1) an impact wrench 2) another human to help with wrestling that damn sway bar. Doing it yourself at home is a mofo, especially with no lift. For the rears I used two jacks which helped, one to stabilize the rear and the other to jack up one end that pushed down the other (seesaw kinda thing). Also, be mindful of hitting any bolts with a hammer to drive it out, even with the nut on you may damage some threads. Having a metric tap and die comes in handy, even if it’s just to clean up threads due to rust/corrosion.
KDSS- Whoever came up with bright idea of using allens in the KDSS valves needs to be taken out and flogged. I broke off an allen in one and had to have a nut MIG’ed in order to open it. If you need one welded don’t bother with TIG, it won’t hold, I tried that several times. Even the MIG took 5-6 nuts to finally get one to hold.
much thanks for all the advice gents..especially "push DOWN"...
