Ok......might be long winded but I need some help.

Ordered the total chaos lower control arms in the race version. My vehicle has kdss but I removed the front sway bar. Get it to the shop and everything removed, start reinstalling everything then get to the lower ball joint brackets.......and they don't fit.

The bolt tapers and it's supposed to fit in flush. It doesn't. Go back and forth with total chaos which they were awesome by the way only to reach a conclusion that the brackets for a kdss vs non kdss model have different ball joint brackets.

Lexus has a different part number than Toyota but total chaos gave me the part number they know works.

Has anyone heard of this? I'm already without a car for an entire day and the techs at Toyota weren't even sure

I have non kdss and non race (beefy) and mine bolted right up

That's what we ran into is no one has a kdss with the TC arms. I ordered the brackets with the part number total gave me. Guess we will see tomorrow.

Seth does...Adventure Driven. Pretty sure he made it work.

Maybe not...unless it was more recent. Most of the FB photos have OEM lowers.

I reached out to him just in case. The shop bill is just adding up and no one knows why this doesn't fit.

So you are saying the billet aluminum doesnt mate to the bottom of the spindle housing?

The tapered sleeve that slides over the bolt does not fit into the stock bracket off the vehicle. I ordered the ones for a 4Runner and low and behold they work. Definitely something to note for anyone doing this with kdss

Indeed! I went and looked. Since I got the steel lowers I had the entire bracket replaced with a billet aluminum one so it isn't the same as the racing one. I wanted the beefy steel with the integrated skid plates :)

Have you driven it without the front swaybar yet - or was it removed as part of this install?

I've driven it. Just leans a little more in corners. Still tracks perfectly straight. I've got the icons with cdc so I'm just going to turn up the dampening.

Does the rear still function properly? I assumed you need both for the KDSS system to function properly, so removing one would cause the other to be useless.

I've ridden on the roads behind FJ's with no sway bars, and upgraded suspensions, and it's honestly a bit scary watching them go around curves. I'm sure they're used to it though.

I lean a lot. It isn't unstable though. I actually think I am more stable now and could always add an extra shock or in tease dampening with resi shocks if I feel the need.

I doubt too many people will need this info, but the stock ball joint bracket with kdss is in fact different than the 4runner or non KDSS brackets. Found out the hard way and needed to order new ones.

So for anyone with kdss going with total chaos lower arms, you'll need new brackets

I hope it's useless. Just a ton of plumbing really. It flexes better.
My Tacoma flexed better without a sway bar but taking a curve on the highway at 70mph was.....interesting.

Indeed... And panic moves are stressful
