ok, I have a site (#5) at Santee State Park for Oct. 2-4.
We can do the whole weekend with food for $30.00 a head.
Please give me a head count asap so I can plan a menu.
Also if you have any dietary restrictions, I need to know that too.
If you would like something special on the menu, let me know , we can probably work it out.
I'll have all the cooking stuff we need, but I will need some help in the kitchen.
This is all tent camping, in the primitive (scout) camping area.
There is water, and a bathroom in the area.
So far, there is no one else going to be there, so we might have the whole site to ourselves. We did last time.
Small motorbaots, kayaks or canoes are perfect for this area. Bring them if you have them.
Hope everyone can come.
Santee State Park is in Santee, just off of I-95, exit 98, follow the signs.

Y'all are coming close to my stomping grounds now. Wish I was going to be in town to ride by and meet some of you, but unfortunately I won't be around. You guys definitely need to get jon boats and head upriver to Sparkleberry Swamp if you've never been in there or heard about it before. Kayaking is pretty popular in there now as well. You'll think you've been dropped off in the bayous of Louisiana. It is alligator hunting season, so you might hear some shots at night. Don't worry about it, though.

Bring your catfishing rods. Striper season will be open by then as well. There are some second or third rate nekkid bars in Santee as well as an Asian "massage parlor", if that's your thing. On your way out of town on Sunday, stop by Lone Star BBQ on the State Park Road - you'll pass it on the left going into the park.

It should be a good trip, I'm sorry you won't be around.

How can we camp and not go somewhere like Sparkleberry Swamp. Does anyone around sell stickers that state something like "I've paddled Sparkleberry Swamp"? If so, I want to put on on Matt's truck.

A friend of mine put a sticker on my boat that says "I'm not lost, I'm exploring." You can get lost af in Sparkleberry very easily.

Could bring a extra kayak if anybody is interested.

Low falls landing is upriver a bit and is a good place to put it for a nice little kayak ride downriver. You can Google it to see if it something you're interested in. You won't go deep into the swamp, but it should be enjoyable. The water is lowwwwww right now, so I don't know if the flats part is navigable.

Sure, Eric, bring it if you have room

Ok ,I will , I'll pull the kayak trailer then .

I'll see if I can get my hands on a yak. I have a friend wanting to sell me one.

It will be great to see everyone. We may just make a day trip out of it, just have to see what we can do... I don't believe we'll be bringing a camper. We may have some more people with us, just not sure yet. I will let everyone know as soon as I find out! We would also love to do some kayaking if we can!!!

I'll bring one or 2 also.

I'm waiting on Tara's new schedule. Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow... Sounds like fun!

I've got a kayak and a canoe lined up to bring, It would be nice if we could get everyone on the water at one time (those who want to go, that is)

I'll be buying food on Thursday, so I will need a final head count by Wed. night

I'll recap to keep it simple. Santee State Park campsite #5, all meals are included (Fri night snack thru Sun breakfast & drinks, non-alcohol). Bring your tent; water and restrooms/showers are available. Cost is $30/person and David needs a headcount by Wed. Friday check in after 2pm, Sunday checkout by noon. We can discuss caravaning. Alcohol can not be visible (or technically consumed). Discretion--keep your coco-colas in a sippy cup. Bring your motorboats and kayaks, David would like to get everyone on the water. So far, Matt is the only one bringing someone. Here's the RSVP list, I'll keep it updated, either reply to the thread or PM me how many in your group and watercraft.
