After having a dead battery and then it not holding a charge I replace it with a new Optima Batt. Now the FZJ80 will not idle right. It idles around 200 RPM!!! I did a search and read that it may take a bit for the computer to readjust the idle but it has been 2 days and it still idles at 200. Even when I crank it in the morning the choke only makes it idle at about 600RPM. What is the next step to fix the problem?? Any help would be great.

It doesn't have a choke. Pull the EFI fuse and let the ECU relearn it's settings.

yes, I know it does not have a choke :D. Just using it as a example. The (high idle) at startup is computer controlled. I will try the EFI fuse.

some 93-94 with the older EFI system need to be started a bunch of time after they are warmed up. So after disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it warm the truck up with either the hand throttle or butt in seat method. After it is warmed up . Start and allow to idle any number of times until the idle readjusts it self. I do not know why some truck need this done and other do not (93-94). Usually 95-97 will start and idle at the right idle.
I have also read about a method where after it is warmed up you rev the engine to 2500rpm for 30 seconds and this is to reset the idle but it has never worked for me. later robbie

I switched the A/C on and off a few times and this seems to get the IAC valve in the proper position and doesn't require as many start/stop cycles to get everything back to normal.
