Lots of new faces tonight

Guys -

It was great putting faces to names of several of our MUD friends tonight. BK, it's always a pleasure to see you. John and David, great to meet you both and we hope to see you guys and your rigs again (V8 40 on 35s and a BJ42). Jorge promised more pics of his two (yes two) new Land Cruiser projects, one of which is a 40 made to look like a bob tailed 45 Ute. Mac has finally retrieved his mistress from Savanah so there will be a 42 in the fold before too long. Michael regaled us with his latest woes with Yen Pit. And Thornton made a celebrity appearance. Thanks Steve, for goading him into making the long slog from Manasass. Great to see the usual suspects as well...Jim, Les, Fernando, Chris, Tracy, and John. Sorry if I missed anyone.

Another great turnout, and just before a major trip too. Maybe certain members can get better organized next time so they don't have to stay up all night getting their rigs ready instead of bonding with fellow Cruiserheads.

Thanks for coming out! Hope to see most of you at the Fall Crawl at Rausch Creek this weekend. Those who can't make it will hopefully be able to join us another time soon.

What a great time! After owning a cruiser since 1996 and at least 15 toyotas since my first, I had a great time. I wish I would have been able to meet more of the guys at the far end of the table. There were lots of great cruisers there as well.

Have fun at fall crawl and see y'all on the trail soon!

So, youre converting the 60? Nice.

Jared, yes converting the 60 to a 6.2L diesel. Also picked up some 6.5 bits--exhaust manifolds and a GM-4 turbo!

Nice! Saw the rust repair photos. Looking good. Ill be doing a 60 diesel when I get back too. The GM motor fits without going SOA, right? I thought thats what I read.

thanks! Yes, the GM 6.2L will go in just like a gasoline SBC (same dimensions and bolt patterns). There are several good threads within Mud, my favorite is FL Cruiser's page.

FL Cruiser also built a 4BD1T and is building another. Thats the thread that Im following... Another guy with the GM is that guy TorFab. He puts them in 80s too and is a good guy to talk to (in that brief second I was considering an 80). Are you going to put together some sort of thread for it? A buddy of mine had a 95 Disco with a Mil surplus 6.2 in it (NA, no turbo) and it did pretty well driving around and on the trail (a D1 weighs almost as much as a 60, believe it or not). The only hurdle for the D1 was cooling as a big radiator wasnt possible due to size. 60s dont have that problem though.


I would love to get to a meeting (not to mention some trails or events like Fall Crawl) but its a little bit hard right now Out of the month or so that I have been here, 5 of those days were not pouring down rain. Oh well, who needs to go outside when youve got books to read and study, right?
