Hello all —

I recently purchased a new 2021 Cruiser, and am looking for recommendations for places to take it for its regular service. I understand that while it’s under warranty, it’s best to take it to a Toyota dealer (but welcome all input if anyone has contrary advice). Any recommendations in the Los Angeles area would be greatly appreciated, especially in the Pasadena / San Gabriel Valley area.

Given RPM sometimes is months out, anybody use any other shops?

I’ve been using Lex MasterTech in Pasadena (we have 4 Lexus cars in the family). Mike, the owner, is a Toyota master technician, and has exchanged every fluid in my 2016 LX at the 60k service, including LX-specific things like AHC. He’s also done a very involved dash harness repair on another car that I was thoroughly impressed with. He’s back to normal operating capacity now and usually can get you scheduled pretty quickly. He’s also always more than happy to work with my aftermarket warranty company. Like you @ryanCA I sometimes do some of my own work on my car, and Mike graciously works around it.

RPM Garage in Monrovia is also fantastic as has already been mentioned. I used them to install my 12.5 gal aux fuel tank and they did a wonderful job…especially not an easy job with the LX. I will use them for all mods that I won't be doing myself.

Thank you very much!

I am comfortable doing some of the work, similar to you, as you know. However, the transmission fluid I am not confidence in doing myself. Thus I was hoping to find someone.

Since you like Mike and he did the fluids for you, I will send over a message for him. Does he do a full drain and fluid of the whole transmission?

I guess for the transmission my situation was unique…I’m only at 60k miles and was getting rough downshifts when I would stomp on the pedal (I have the 8 speed). At such low mileage I wouldn’t have touched the transmission fluid usually. I think he did a full drain and fill because I paid about $156 just in transmission fluid and another $40 for the BG cleaner kit. I was fine with it because I’ve used BG products before when doing oil changes and it made a huge difference. It also fixed the issue with my rough downshifts, so I can’t complain. Since you’re at higher miles I would ask him and see what he comes back with.
