and noisy too. So do I tighten the big nut in the centre??? Seems to me there are two threaded holes with no bolts in them...(?)

If its sloppy you'd better pull off the harmonic balancer to make certain the shaft isn't damaged. If that bad boy comes off while you're running down the road you'll be in a world of hurt.

The pulley closest to the timimg cover is solid... no wobble... it's the double pulley thats attatched to that which is loose. I just can't see in there

interesting, I think that pullet is rivited on to the harmonic balancer..

ok I Think I can feal the rivets. The pulley wobbles but the rivets don't move

I would get a new one.

they are not hard to replace..

Although it might do just as well to take it to a machine shop to true it up and then weld it.

So then to get it off do I just back off the 43mm nut in the middle???
That easy???

And then use a puller with those holes that seem to be missing bolts..

Isn't there some sort of sheetmetal locking washer too? The kind with tabs that fold over the nut edges - it's been years...

If you've got a stout 43mm wrench - Yea, that easy. Lots of people have had trouble getting the nut loose and retightenined when finished. A common trick is to prop the wrench against the frame and ten bump the startere to knock it loose. Use extreme caution if you go that route.

If you get the nut off you have already taken care of the washer. It retains the nut ;)

Will try to get to it this weekend. It'll be going to the machine shop too... almost $500 from the dealer for a new one.
Thanks for the help.

Betcha can pick up a used one for $30

Where might I look?

Teh for sale and wanted section on mud would be a good place to start ;)
