Hi everyone, I am shopping for a "new" vehicle. Came across this extremely clean example of a 1999 LX470, with roughly 200,000KM (125,000 Miles). Second owner since 2006, always lexus serviced never winter driven. He is asking 26 CAD (19500 USD). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Another thing that’s a HUGE deal that people forget to mention is the windshild. I would look for the OEM Toyota windshield. Typically aftermarket windshields are done incorrectly without the OEM rivets, this will cause the windshield to leak which essentially rust the windshield surround! The price to correct this correctly is much more than the cost of most of this maintenance and an absolute nightmare to deal with weather you correct it or decide to live with it!

I always wondered how accurate this was compared to forum paranoia. My windshield trim was done using screws about 5+ years ago and I have no issues. Yea, it sucks when you have to deal with it. I bought a 98 that kept flooding the flood boards when it rained (San Diego so not often) when I tore everything apart it was a nightmare! While windshield frame needed to be cut out / re-formed and welded, then a windshield installed correctly with the correct rivets. That’s just the windshield, there was so much interior damage behind the dash from water leaking down the A pillars, ended up involving my insurance and they totaled the truck. Used the money to finish correcting the electrical issues the water caused.
The kind of person who puts fake chrome vents on a car is not the kid of previous owner I would buy a vehicle from
Lol oh come on...would you rather it be loaded with poser overlanding gear ? This thing looks pretty solid I wouldn't pass on a rig cuz the chrome. s*** the dealer probably sold him on that "upgrade"
@RyanCostaRica , have you run the vin on carfac or Toyota owners ? Is it a one owner rig ? Any insight into the rust factor underneath?

LOL exactly this rig is cleaner than most on here. Its immaculate, I want to be the one getting it dirty and taking it off road.
He has owned since 2006, only summer driving, has babied it, massive service records dating back to 2006. Belts done. I'm waiting for chassis pics..but hoping its as clean as a 25 year old truck can be.
Winner winner chicken dinner. Dont wait just go get it before some else does. Negotiate in person and hope for a deal .
The market for these trucks is brutal lately. Condition dictates price.
If you truly dont need to do much to this once you buy it that's great
Tires ,brakes , belts , fluids. It all adds up quick but if seller has stack of service history that's a huge plus .The worst thing I hear from a seller is " oh this vehicle has been great I havent needed to fix anything " aka they have done no maintenance
Looks saveable from the chrome stuff but, MUST INSPECT UNDERCARRIAGE.

the seller sent along this video, engine sounds good, but am I hearing a power steering whine?
Maybe a tad bit but nothing I'd even worry about. PS pump is cheap and easy to swap out if you had to. Just inspect the fluid color when you get there.
Man that thing sounds good though, no exhaust tick and runs really smooth. Looks like it's clean and garage kept. I bet it's never been off road so maybe it's more important to check on things like Center Diff lock working properly along with getting into and back out of low gear
You found a winner for sure. Would be sweet if it was $15k but the low mileage wont allow that to happen. $20k is a bit high so anywhere in between and its a great deal from where I'm sitting. Its a s*** load of money, but this is a vehicle you could essentially keep forever if you have the means to keep up with maintenance.

Sounds amazing! Might be idler pulley making a little noise (common). Radiator looks great no browning! The brake fluid looks really clean. Few things I always look for is 1 worm clamps on radiator hoses (should always use OE pressure clamps that is present in this) and how clean the brake fluid is (believe it or not consistent flushes increases the life of the booster) and radiator color/condition. Typically if that stuff is good you know the rest will be as good.

Good points made above about hoses and brake fluid. Consider looking closely at some of the high dollar items/repairs like radiator, fan bracket, definitely the AHC components, brake system, timing belt, brakes are kind of spendy, so are tires. Ideally you would hook up a OBD2 scanner and go on a test drive to check for cooling temps and all that
The reality is, these vehicles are so well known theres not going to be any little hidden gremlins. Look over basic mechanical stuff and service history, rust, and if it all checks out its a great deal.
My last two vehicle purchases ( GX470 and old Camry ) I flew many hours away to purchases them, didn't even test drive, handed over cash and drove em both home 10+ hours...Once you know what you want, talk to the seller to gauge if they are trying to hide stuff or not. Check for rust. Check for service history, and go for it. You mentioned a stack of previous service records along with those pics of a rust free underside, I'd already be on a plane. You can always make more money, you cant make more 99 lx470s lol

So seller took it off market, after all that haha. I'm not done with him yet, but i will continue the search
That’s a bummer! Sometime the more “we enthusiasts” ask questions and act really interested starts giving sellers the idea that “wow if this guy knows these vehicles and is this interested it must be worth more”
