Looking to purchase 2006 LX470. Thoughts on the undercarriage?

Hey all, I am looking to purchase this 2006 LX470 with 167k miles a few states over. Before I proceed any further, I requested photos of the undercarriage from the seller. They only sent me a couple. I have asked for a few more, awaiting on response. Checking the vehicle history, this has spent most of the years in CT.

Thoughts based on the photos so far? Will add more as I get them from seller.

Not bad. Some either flaking of factory paint on bottom of rails or rust was painted over. Gas tank skid looks surprisingly new.

Have you run the VIN on Lexus Drivers to check the service history (or asked the owner)?

Yeah, my assumption there was rust painted over, but I would have to take a closer look to be certain. It just looks odd, but would happy to be wrong on this one. Some of the areas do look pretty much new, which is interesting.

I was able to review the Carfax provided by the dealership and the service records look decent. Most done with Lexus directly in Connecticut and a few others at Toyota or independent shops. I am having an issue adding this to Lexus service history website to check on that end. Hoping to try again tonight.

if it's a ways off, there are services that will inspect and give you a report for a $$, depending on price, might be worth some extra piece of mind, or maybe ask dealer for 3mo / 3k miles warranty

Yep, it's about 1,500 miles away. Short of taking a flight there, I can't inspect it in person unfortunately. I am looking into a PPI with someone local there.

That is indeed the plan if possible. I guess my patience is not great. I have been looking at rigs in WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, AZ (basically anywhere I wouldn't mind flying and driving back). It's a process for sure!

Hope you can find something clean! Dumb luck brought me to my 07 LX; a 99% clean one-owner from NC. I meticulously coat the underside (and inside of the frame) with RP-342 every fall.

You won’t regret waiting for the right truck.

Wow, that's great. I had a 2006 previously, but it was a good amount rusted out. Had to part ways before it gave me too much trouble and I have been trying to find a clean one since then. Good to know about the coating.

I would inspect each flaky rusted spoke and I would poke through the paint to see how deep is the rust. Painting over rusted spots (even if surface rust) is a bad sign and it must be inspected.
