So I own a 96 land cruiser and am looking to add to that with a taco or tundra but have a question. I was told that the TRD off road versions of both of them come with the rear e-locker. I have been in both and have not seen anything to lock it in. Does it just lock in when you put it 4wd. My 96 has lockers so you have to turn the dial. I guess I was looking for something like that. Someone please school me on this.

e locker button is left of the steering wheel on the dash. says diff lock or something like that, too lazy to go look in my truck.

To the left of the steering wheel says "RR DIFF LOCK"
It only locks in 4lo unless you do the grey wire mode (atleast on my 02 taco)
Grey wire mode takes ~15 minutes.
you unplug the elocker plug under the dash and pull out a ground wire, then you can ground the wire on the body and the 4wd comp thinks your in 4lo but the reg computer thinks everything is fine.
if you do it wrong, the computer thinks your in 4lo so it governs your speed and changes shift points.
good luck!

yes def there you have to put it in nuetral to engage it and stay under 10mph. look out for thos guys who put TRD stickers on the bed and try to pass it as one. I think it was an option though and not all TRD's came with it. when you open the driver side door there will be a instruction sticker right on the door panel. some other info to think about. Tacoma's were recalled from 95.5 - 2004 for frame problems. I had (have) several Tacoma's, 95.5 - 2000 they buy them back because they no longer produce that frame. 2001-2004 they replace your frame with a new one. makes for a brand new truck. Good luck. :D

I don't think any Tundras (TRDs included) came with a rear locker. Some of them had LSDs, but I do not believe a locker was even offered. Someone correct me if I am wrong. :)

The '07+ up tundras had a LSD, but no electric locker - you are correct...

All Tacoma TRD OR should have the rear locker button. No Tundras came with a factory rear locker option.

Ok so if I am getting this correct tacos TRD Off road versions came with the rear locker. So if I test drive one and dont see the button or see the little plaque on the drivers side door chances are someone put the TRD offroad stockers on the truck. Thanks for the info guys. I test drove one at a stealership and asked about the rear locker and guy didnt even know what I was talking about. Sad
