I think discount tire might be retarded, because I'm almost positive I have seen 33s on stock fj60 wheels before. My buddy had some on his before he got new rims and then I had them on mine until I got my new tires. The only thing is with the stock wheels they are really narrow, so with a wider rim it does make a lot bigger footprint.

well mind you i went to two diffrent discounts and a crappy good year place and they where saying the same thing, if ya want bigger ya have to go with bigger rims (maybey discount is really trying to push selling wheels these days ..IDK)... granted id love a wider tire, i just didnt realize that these where so damn narrow. but unless they still make old military jeep style tires hell id go that route. but mind you with my new lift she looks kinda goofy with them little as korean crap tires.

Howdy! It's all about liability. They don't want to mount anything other than "recommended sizes"to cover their butts. May have to go out and buy a set of cheapo white spoke wagon wheels so you can get a wider rim for a bigger tire. John

255/85r 16 on Tacoma spare wheels looks ok with 4" of lift.

... apparently acording to Discount tire i cant go any bigger than 30". ...

Find a better tire store. Most of the big chains will only mount to tire manufacture recommended rim widths.

For wheeling in rocky terrain, I agree with the old rule of thumb; rim should be ~2/3 of tire width. It's called redneck beadlock, the advantages are; it pulls sidewalls in, making them and the rim less susceptible to damage and it's more difficult to roll the tire off of the rim when aired down. The disadvantage is; the tires tend to crown wear, wear the center slightly faster.

I run 37x12.5 tires on 7.5" rims, the big chain stores like Discount, Costco, etc, wont touch them.:hillbilly:

anyone either recomend a reasonalble tire shop.or any one now of any one with an extra set of wheels they dont need

I have a 62 as well with a 4" lift and I went through Precision Tire and Auto Center on 27th Ave. just North of Deer Valley for my Toyo Open Country M/T's about 1.5 years ago and I couldn't be happier with them or the choice of tire. I'm running 33 x 12.50 and they were the cheapest I found in the valley at that time. I had never delt with them prior to that, but when it comes time to replace these; I will go back to them for another set of Toyo's. I do have aftermarket rims although, also "Maggie" is my DD as well. Just my dos centavos.

Did you do the shackle reversal on your rig? I see in the picture you have one. I also like the skid plate under the transfercase, I have one as well. I haven't seen too many of those on the 62's I've seen.

yea i went from a stock set up to the new MAF Mojave springs with the S/R. been pretty happy with it so far .but im taking her out to AZROCKS next week to see if it was money well spent

are those15x6 or 15x7 wheels

or could i use early 4 runner/ chevys or any other type wheels ..i saw the later model tundras and sequias put i dont know if the backspacing is enough

any otehr ideas would be helpfull ......trying to get this done before AZROCKS

Tundra and Sequoia wheels will not work without spacers. They are also 17"

If you go to 16" you can do 255/85r 16 on Taacoma spare wheels with just a touch of grinding on the steering arm. You can see my 60 with combo here at the bottom of this thread.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/expedition-builds/354600-steel-wheels-split-rims.html

The BS on the Taco wheels is approx 3.75" the Sequoia and Tundra wheels are 4+" and are a NO-GO without big spacers.

Most later chevy rims have a small center hole and too much backspace. Most of the later Toyota truck rims will fit and most need spacers. There are Tundra/Sequoia rims that are 16". I would go with 16", IMHO better tire size selection and price, they are more common than 15".

What part of town?

im in phx but willing to go where ever

i love the idea of 33/9.5/ 15 bfg but my understanding these are getting harder to find
