Greetings folks,

I found this triple locked 6bt swapped LC80 local to me that I am interested in. However, the seller was not able to provide too much information on the build since he bought it from the guy who built it.

I am looking to get more information on the truck/build, hence I am hoping to find the original builder that did the swap.

It is a 97 triple locked, black in color, the roof was bedliner sprayed (the seller bought it this way, there shouldn't be many 80s that is 6bt with a bedliner sprayed roof right haha).

If you know anything about his truck, please reach out.

Admin: this is also posted on the diesel thread, posting here in hope to reach out to more people who might have information on this particular truck.

Many Thanks!

Do you know if it came out of Colorado?

I am not sure tbh.. the previous owner/builder might be from the military, not 100% sure tho (did not catch it clearly when the seller was telling me that..), so I won't be surprised if the truck got moved around with where the previous owner was stationed at. The frame was clean tho, little to no rust with the couple of peeks I had under it.

4BT/6BT swap builders in US professionally were literally 1-3 shops for the past 20 years. Unless done privately.

I can PM the pictures to whomever might know the truck.

I am pretty sure it is done privately, hence I hope I can get in touch with the person who built it to get more info..

Why PM the pictures? Post them publicly so we can view them otherwise what incentive does anyone have?

I know a guy in NM and Co. Who did a couple. The 6BT, is the huge engine that barely fits right? Does yours have a turbo?

We need photos posted in this thread please!

I am not sure if the seller is on this forum.. if he sees it, I just don't want him to feel any kind of ways that I am poking around for information.. maybe that's just me..

Yea, that's the cummins turbo diesel found in 90s and early early 2000s Ram 2500 and 3500, some school buses and other HD trucks too.

So if you are not “poking around” for information why are you asking for leads to find the person who installed it?

Micah has his own shop now in CO. Left Classic Cruiser and real estate and is back to wrenching.

That is true. He was in ABQ when he dropped in his first 6BT. A Cruiser Head over by Jemez Springs had it for a while.

You are looking at buying a one off, heavily modified truck.
If the seller can't provide you much info, and has a problem with you seeking out the builder, walk away.

Regardless of finding the previous owner, you're on your own anyway. No way you'll ever know everything that was done. You're taking on a red-headed step child.
No manual, no parts catalogue for all the little custom fixes
