Hi guys. I live in the north Georgia. I have a 2002 lx470. Right now the only thing that isn't stock is the rims and soon to be the speakers. I plan on doing a lot of mods to it, but I'm not really sure where to start. I want to put a 6 inch suspension lift and most likely 35 in tires. I was hoping you guys could give me tips on what kind of lift to get, what kind of tires and bumpers and such. Thanks for your help.

As if you couldn't tell, I'm new to all this stuff. I'm still trying to educate myself by reading through posts and other things online. Why is it that I can only put a 2-3 inch lift on this car?

Can you provide an outline of your intended use for the vehicle, where will it go (terrain), what will it do? This would help provide better advice.

If you go custom anything is possible. However, the design of the front IFS system does not allow more that 2.5-2.75" lift. In order to go higher, you would need to either look at one of the option posted above or have it custom built.

Once you start going higher than 2.5-2.75", you start introducing extreme angles into the CV's, and steering arms. Once you start dropping the Front Diff lower than the current Diff drops available, you start having conflicts between the front drive shaft and front Sway Bar and again start creating extreme angle for the steering rack and rod ends. The list goes on. There is no aftermarket support/products available to get around this with out going with one of the two options posted above or a true custom build.

Lots to read on the topic here with a little time and searching. It comes up at least once a year or more. Good luck with your research!

I plan on using it for trails and mudding and things of that manner. Nothing too extreme, just something that's fun to do. And thank you for that information that makes a lot more sense now.

I think most would suggest some sort of set up including Old Man Emu or TJM springs and Torsion bars. Slee, Cruiser Outfitters and others are very popular shops on this forum. I would suggest looking for a local shop that sells and installs. Even if you are doing it yourself you can save on shipping and have someone to back you up if there are issues.

If you're just looking to get taller for mudding, I'd personally suggest maybe even not buying a full lift kit at all. Crank your torsion bars and run spacers in the rear to level the front and get an inch or so out back, add some wheels spacers, then spend your money on some obnoxiously aggressive boggers, and save the rest for whatever gets torn up in the mud. From my experience, running 33" mud terrains (previous tires before my AT3's) I could go just about anywhere mud hole wise that friends running 35's on trucks and Jeeps could go

Just read you have an LX not land cruiser, so I'm guessing you have AHC? Get the slee override switch and keep the truck in high and run larger tires that way
