I had a backpack taken out of my truck that had a 357 magnum Ruger Blackhawk pistol in it. I am now shopping to replace it. It does not seem to be a popular model and I have only been able to locate one in Tucson at Murphy's for $429. Other dealers will order it, but said that it could take weeks for delivery. A friend told me that he had heard of a dealer, maybe in northern Arizona who had good prices and an "in" with the Ruger factory and could get guns in a matter of days. Anyone know of someone like that?

Considering their proximity, that dealer very well could have been J&G Guns in Prescott.
They maintain a website, too. Two local (Kingman) pawn shops (both named PawnWorld) deal in new Rugers, but I'm not aware of any special relationship they may have with the factory.

Thanks for the info. I checked out the J&G Sales website. It looks like they deal more in the smaller "police" style Ruger handguns. I am looking for the "cowboy style with the 6 1/2" barrel. LOL

Thanks!

You might check out Gunsamerica or the other online gun auction Gunbroker. The 6 1/2 bbl might be unusual enough that it might be nessesary to order one with that bbl length. Cowboy shooters prefer the 4 5/8 so are more common. 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 are the others. It would give you more options if you also included the New Vaquero into the search. I use a set of 45 LC for competition and like them, mine are stainless.:):hhmm:

Sucks about the theft - sorry to hear about it. If it was registered in your name, you probably should report it if you havent already.

My dad and I both own 6.5inch 357 Blackhawks. Weve done extensive ballistics with varying loads and bullets using a chronograph.

Once dialed in, they are amazingly accurate handguns. Not as slick as an auto but will never jam either :D

next show is the 11 and 12 of Sept.

Try " auctionarms.com " They have all kinds of sidearms. Just enter Ruger BlackHawk and you should find what you're looking for. Sorry to hear about misfortune , That really sucks. Good Luck , Hope you find what you want. Also try A J I guns on University in A.J.

Thanks!

Thanks to all who have replied!! I am in the process of checking out the sites that you all have recomended. The one that I sort of expected to be the least productive may be the one that provides the best leads. I am not certain if I am understanding the situtation correctly, but apparently Ruger does not sell directly from their website, but when you go to their site and click on the weapon that you are interested in, you are directed off-site and a list of "shops" comes up with each one quoting the price that they will sell the gun to you. If you accept the price at one of the shops, then Ruger will ship the gun to them. Each one has some additional fees that I do not understand and will have to call tomorrow to check out. A couple of those shops have the price for the pistol down around $410 or so.

As far as the theft, I had gotten really complacent and was leaving the backpack in my truck behind the driver's seat(DC Tacoma). It had the pistol, binocs, gps, leatherman etc....so it was an easy grab and go(It must have happened one time that I forgot to lock the truck). To compound matters, I hadn't recorded the serial number of the gun(I did report the theft to Sheriff). Something I learned is that the shop that sold you the gun is the only one that can associate your name, the gun and the serial number--law enforcement apparently does not have that info. And the shop is only required to keep the numbers for 20 years. I bought the gun in the early '80's. The shop has since gone out of business...If they still had my records, those are now locked up at ATF. I didn't even try to make a claim on my insurance. So an expensive lesson learned!

Any way thanks again, I think you all have gotten me on a track that I think is going to work!!

Give Jim at Yavapai Pawn a call 928-717-1188 (Prescott). He can order directly from Davidsons (also in Prescott) which is one of the bigger firearm distributors. He is also very fair on prices.

Just talked to a gun manufacturer buddy, he mentioned that Pistol Parlor just got some consignment guns in today. Also mentioned Gun Broker, he has a FFL if you need to ship?

If your trying to replace with the same, the early gun is what is commonly called a 3 screw, the new gun is different. Some prefer the older type, may want to research the differences and possibly shop for a clean used older type?

I bought a couple of guns there. Let's just say it was before the internet. Do they still have the scale out front that they weight game on during hunting season or has Flagstaff gotten to be to big a town for that?

As for the Ruger might try some local pawn shops might get lucky and buy your own guy back:frown:
