Hi all —

I live in Portland, Oregon, and I'm looking for my first GX470. I've found a few local options, but they all feel overpriced for the age/mileage. My budget is 15K, and I'm hoping for one under 150K miles.

My intent is to build it up as an adventure / light-overlander, and I'm happy to travel for a good deal.

Thanks,
Andy

I just bought mine in May up here in Seattle area and have noticed Seattle/Portland prices are about 25% to 30% higher than the pricing in other parts of the country. I sucked it up and paid $11,000 for my 04 with 166,000 in nice condition in and out and great service records. Seems to be the norm out here on the left coast.

Andy - I have stock 2005 GX470, currently with 94k miles. My sister bought it brand new and I got it in January. I was planning on doing a build, but circumstances have change and I am planning on selling it in a few weeks. I live in Houston and there are reputable shops here (and on this forum) that can assist with evaluating the vehicle. You can email me at nef dot partida at yahoo if you’re interested or via this post. Also, I was very active in the BMW forum world and my username is Bestia there as well. Sold my M5 and my 435i vía the post to other enthusiasts. Good luck on the search.

Do your research on them and keep looking. When you find a good one jump on it because the GX is catching on and prices are only going to go up. When I was looking I found several with around 130k miles for 13k in the pnw.

Shop around. I have a build one that I would sell for about $17.5, with 197k miles and well documented service, so I think you should be able to find one in your price range.

If you decide to look at the one in Houston, let me know, I have a great friend who was a Lexus CM and works in a private shop that would check it out for a fee

My buddy just bought the black one from Jordan Motorsports. Did you look at it by chance and what was your take?
Listed at $14k, 220,000 miles, dead perfect one-owner, not a spot of corrosion and at dinner last night a couple were admiring his truck and didn't realize it was his until I spoke up. The wife had guessed it was a 2014 and the husband said, "no way, that's brand new." He did a trade and cash deal. I hope this helps as a guide on local pricing.

Keep looking and you will find a good one. Bought one last month in Los Angeles for 14.5K. 2003, 65K dealer serviced locally. Found it in CL.
