Traded in the landcruiser on a 06 with 103k miles but it feels "soft" over the bumps, (my wife says thats how it's suppose to feel, that I use to the old LC) I want to lift it a bit, would like to run up to a 33" tire, 275/70/17's or 285's. My original plan (and maybe still) was to add a spacer to the front and trick the back to get something around a 2" - 3" lift in the front and 1.5" or so in the back. Also, gotta keep running boards on so wife can get in...
Now I'm thinking of new shocks all around and I've read so many different set ups. It sounds like a big problem with the rear is if you go with a longer shock you risk an air bag slipping out. A few options I've seen are:
Go with spacers in front, trick the rear, see what happens...
Bilstine 5100's all around, lose the ride control (which is fine)(seems to be the cheapest upgrade)
ome 885 springs with 9000 shocks (around 2" in front), 9000's in rear
coilovers up front, expensive, I won't be wheeling hard anyway
I've also read that you need to do uca's if going over 2" in the front
Seems the majority of the lift threads are a few years old, just not sure what's the latest/easiest way to go.
