Call Terry at McIntosh Imports, Tell him Jamie referred you. He is a pro on most all Cruiser issues. They are in Mt. P near Miller Cadillac.

Glenn of LexTech Automotive on James Island...also has a guy that helps him with machine work....and sure he can do a full replacement himself if you cant repair.

Plus, he is one of our members and does us right....

Lex-Tech automotive. he's the best and he helps support this site by giving information and had held a Hamon before. He also rides with us. i prefer to support people who are involved in the club.

Thanks Brock & BBQ BOY, I left Glenn a voice mail on his work line this afternoon.

No offense to emes for referring Terry but I stopped by Terry's last year for an estimate on something and it took him three months to call me back.

Plus, I met Glenn at the HAMOM at his shop a while back. I just wasn't sure if he did head work when I posted.

Have any of you other 80 guys had to replace a head yet?

If you guys need any help wrenching on your cruisers this weekend. I'm free.

Thanks Brock and Mike.
In my 24 years of toyota experience i've only seen a crack like this one in one other toyota product which was a 1990 3.0 v6 pick up.
You've basically got FOUR viable options. #1 purchase new head from toyota (comes bone stock, no valves, springs, shims or keepers) reuse your old valve components
#2 purchase used head from salvage yard and put it on as is and hope for the best.
#3 purchase used head from salvge yard, strip it, send it to the machine shop have it decked, magnafluxed, (checked for cracks) complete valve job (grind valves and seats, new valve stem seals, and valve adjustment)
#4 purchase remanurfactured head (basically same as option #3) only variable with option #4 is did the machine shop do a quality head rebuild.
I got your message this evening. I'll prepare an estimate in the morning and give you a call.
Thanks
Glenn
