You've heard it before, you'll hear it again....throwing out for interest in potential Mogollon Rim run. this is 6- 8 hrs from south OC (depending on which end of the trail).

Carlos (tan 100 series) and Joe R. have expressed interest.

Special note: this is much better than the 19hrs +/- of the originally pitched Owyhee Canyonlands. Weather is better as well.

Interesting fact: per Joe R, Louis L'Amour seems to have used the rim as a backdrop to some of his western/cowboy tales.

Thinking late october departue.

180 miles, figure 5 to 10 days depending on urgency (note that lake Havasu/Laughlin are approx 1/2 way...nice pit stop/bed/shower/meal on return).

See attached "Mogollon Rim Discovery Trail" for description and "Gemini 260612 mogollon rim arizona weather early to late fall" for preview.

girls y guys, I WAS looking at this as a "come up for air" trip based on previously mentioned life issues.

As you may (may not) remember, I had minor hand surgery at the end of July. A not-unexpected complication forces me to throw the towl in on this trip :bang:

Hopefully the new year will give me some bandwidth.

Keep on keeping on☮️

As most of you may know, I just did these trails (East & West) as the conclusion to my cross-country trip. They are both great trails, but Rim Road West is much more scenic, with some really nice vistas. Both have some very nice potential camping, both primitive dispersed & designated sites.

I could be talked into doing it again, but I could not do it this year. If you’d like to talk it over with me, I would be glad to share my insights. Feel free to call or text me (PM me if you need my phone number).
