I wanna import a cruiser from Japan to Canada. I really like the long wheel based 7x series w/diesel and factory locker.

In order to get it on the road it needs to be no newer then 1992 otherwise pretty much anything that comes from Japan is good to go.

Just wondering what you guys might suggest?

Suggest what? Where to buy? What to buy? What would you like to know? There are professional importers on the forum, hundreds of JDM Landcruiser owners here as well. Take some time to search through the various posts here, I think you'll find the Japanese imports are well-discussed.

Did read through a bunch of that info.

I am wondering though, can a prado with the options I want be had in Japan? I've read that one should stay away from the L series but what does that leave me with? I think a 78/79 troop carrier would be sweet but can they be had?

Troopies are unobtanium in Japan. Prados suck. You're left with a PZJ77 or HZJ77 if you want a long wheelbase. BJ73, BJ74, HZJ73 for mid wheelbase.

So why do the prados suck? Are the HZJ77s hard to find?

hummm, i thought you said you did your research. search "2LTE head"
grab a coffee or beverage of your choice, you have some serious reading ahead of you.
the HZJ77 is a rare beast and huge money even in rougher shape. nice rigs though

Just purchased this two weeks ago. They are out there if you look hard enough and don't hesitate when the deal is right.

it was listed for around that, can't remember. being a private sale i do not set the price.
he now wants less than what he paid for it...
it really runs nice and i would be tempted to buy it but i have too many toys already...

that's a really nice truck!

How is the 1PZ compared to the 3B in terms of reliability and ease of maintenance?

reliability? depends on maintanence. look after it and the PZ will do the 500,000.
change the oil
change the fuel filter
change the timing belt every 100,000
use fuel lubricant in every tank

and away you go.
the PZ is rated for 115 hp
the 3B is 92-98 hp

they both get the high 20 for fuel milage

the PZ is quieter and smoother

the PZ respnds very well to a turbo but then so does the 3B.

i have a turbo'd intercooled, propane injected PZ here and it is a very nice drive.

both the PZ and the 3B really needs a turbo to make them more enjoyable a drive.....
