Looking for a measurement for a '65/66 windshield clamp

Mine measures 45 1/2 plus a little.....Straps on mine in place of the latches but they're about the same width....Certainly not 1 1/2 difference that would put you at 44" so you should be ok....

Since mine is in the booth, can someone let me know what the distance is in between the windshield clamps?? I need to know if it is less than 44"...

Thanks,

Yes, the Dashman box will fit.....;)

EDIT: You will need to change windshield frames, however. The center control for the fresh air vent will not allow fitment of the dashbox.......I forgot to mention that...sorry. I hate losing the vent as it is way cool and quite functional. Mine is a '65-T'66

I do not have that vent control knob. Is the cruiser in the pic a '66? Mine have the ribbed like dash.

Yes, mine is a '65 titled as a '66. That windshield is OEM on the earlier cruisers, like up to '67 maybe. My dash was ribbed until some PO cut a hole in it with a chainsaw for a radio, so I cut out the rest of the ribs and welded in a smooth patch of steel.

Degnol

Where did you get the dash light? Is that a license plate light?

It may be a license plate light, don't remember. I just needed something to light up the knobs and not shine in my face. Will probably mout it on the bottom of the dashbox when I get that installed.

If there is no vent in the bottom of you windshield it's a later 65 or 66. The style with the vent in the bottom is neat but can be a pain to lower the windshield because the defrost vents have to be removed first. That is unless it a 1962 model or older that didn't have any deftrost vents

wonder what year windshield I've got then...same original paint color as everything else from what I can tell.

If wipers on top....single motor, I would guess a '67-'74.

Mine never had a facto heater or the defrost vents(metal triangles). Has what appears to be a dealer-installed generic heater with defrost outlets and a flapper, but no metal ducts to actually get it to the windshield. However thay may have been lost somewhere along the line. I did find a pair of the welded-on defrost ducts from a later model '40, but currently I just keep a rag/towel on the seat and use Rain-X anti fog.

All I have is an aftermarket heater blowing on the feet....No ductwork, but I see the 3 holes on each side of the windshield channel where the "deflector shield?" would have been installed.....Wonder if FST's generally came without heaters/ductwork.....

Mt 65 fst came without a heater thus no defrost vents. It also had a sears aftermarket heater installed by a PO.

Check with destin, his 64 FST has the vents. I have a late 1962 production date FJ40 hard top that came with defrost ducts. The factory heater didn't start until 64 at the earliest but the defrost vents started a couple of years earlier. Probably because so many aftermarket heater were being installed by dealer Most 64s didn't have the a factory heater, I've never seen one. 65 seem to be pretty even split. Wasn't until 1966 model that the heater became standard in the US.

here's a fun one...my 65 45 has the defrost vents, but never had a heater.

btw, i just removed the vents since i like to have the w/s down.
