Thanks all. I'm currently in Vegas at my layover to tucson. I'll update once I get to see the 40 in person, hopefully tonight, but that is unknown as my flight is delayed. Of course it is...

OK so we got the 40 cleaned out, swapped the flat tires and tested if it rolls. All systems go for tomorrow.

I've posted a journal of our day and a bunch of pictures over on the tornado alley cruisers clubhouse under a thread titled road trip if anyone is interested.

For those willing and wanting to help, pm me and I can provide my number and the address.

Thanks again for the help!

What I thought was going to be a tough extraction, you made very easy.

We couldn't have done it without you and your impressive Tacoma.

I'll update as cell towers arrive.

Madd it safely back to Kansas City yesterday evening without incident. Now it's time to roll the thing off the trailer and into the garage!

Now that it is safely out of the state, can you tell us how you found it? Google Earth browsing?

My buddy who retired to Tucson was looking at an investment property. This was parked next door. He recalled a conversation, many years ago, over many beers where I asked him to keep an eye out for the elusive barn find.

He found a barnless find. He sent me 1 picture and I bought it. Much to the chagrin of the wife.

Here it is topless, safely in the garage.

Basically just pure luck!

Glad ya made it home safe & sound

He found a barnless find.
I think the honorable professor was using it for a barn :hillbilly:

The packrats certainly were comfy.

I'm am curious if the wheels were frozen or it rolled easy with just tug. My 76 required needle nose pliers to remove everything under the hood. Once I moved it into town a little further the feral cats kept the pack rats away. Up north not many things that want to stick you and main concern is wiring getting chewed up. Tightly sealed garage solved that. Those problem are nothing compared to the Midwest winters. Hopefully this "Barn Find" will have comfy spot in the garage during the winter.

It rolled very easy, and as we were unloading it last night, the brakes started working. Well, enough to stop it at 5 mph at least.

We found that BBQ tongs and welding gloves were the best tools to remove all the pointy stuff the pack rats deposited.

It's in a nice, tight spot in the garage. So the pack rat problem is gone, but now I battle the rust monster up here. Although it'll only be driven in summer months, so that should help.

Been there, done that.. Great description..
Or a huge shop vac (which requires the same tools to unplug it).

Keep us up to date with your progress.
