Hi All

I know, I should be doing my own maintance service for my truck, but with a demanding job and 2 little kids it's hard to find even time to doing simple oild changes.

My 97 LX450 has over 125K now and is long due for a full tuneup. I have checked with the local toyota dealer for a full 120K tuneup would cost me over $500 and looking at the list, it's not much that they do.

I need my front axles checked, possiblity replace all brake pads and front rotors and have plugs, wires changed and all fuilds changed.

Any one in the NY, CT, or NJ can recommend a good 80's mechanic to perform these services. Otherwise, think I'll be struck with the local Toy dealer. :D

Thanks - J

$500 at the dealer won't include the front axle service.

If you want the list of things performed on your list, call Jose at Metro Landcruisers in Montclair. http://www.metrolandcruisers.com/ - no affiliation with him other than knowing that he is a super guy and does great work.

Otherwise, if you want to buy the parts and bring the Diet Coke out to the Morristown area, I could give you a hand.

Junk, thanks for the info, will give Jose a call to get more info regarding service and part prices. Might take you up on your offer for a 12 pack of diet Coke...

1. Front axle service
2. all brake pads and new front rotors
3. complete tuneup

fyi... you just listed about $2K+ in service work on the FZJ80. If you go with a third party service shop, you won't get all Toyota parts and might save $3-400. If $2K is too much to pay, I'd take Junk up on his offer and get the parts from a Toyota dealership!! <g>

I've been there and done all three. I did 1&3 at a Toyota dealer and #2 at my local Goodyear/Gemini. (I don't recommend Goodyear/Gemini... I just happen to know the guys at this particular location and they are really good at what they do)
