Has part of my pyro issue, i am unable to find bolt size that holds the groudn between the frame and block. See pictures. would anyone have the thread size for this?. I went to toyota and has expected they cannot even located this bolt and wouldn't even know thread size.

it is right under the exhaust down pipe

There are several sizes of bolts around the bellhousing. I'd expect a 12x1.25x40 (or thereabouts - I can check tomorrow if it's really needed).

Yes i do really need it, but M12 is too small.....

B/3B bellhousing bolts are 12x1.25x45 there are a few larger ones (14mm) that mount the starter. There are one or two that are longer than 45 that have nuts on the other end, rather than threading in to the engine block or bellhousing.

Its a 14mm, i got some yesterday but i haven't try them yet, but i think the thread of the bolt i have is too coarse and i need something with fine thread

3B Engine Block Ground Strap Bolt

eleblanc,

It's a M12 (diameter) x 1.25 (thread pitch) x 45 mm (length). The head requires a 17 mm socket.

Now that it isn't raining & snowing in Calgary, I just took mine out of my '82 BJ42 parked outside.

I strongly suggest buying a thread gauge and a digital micrometer. You won't regret it.

Regards,

M12 is too small, M 14 is the size, i have one here but coarse thread and won't fine, so its fine thread but in metric standard m14 has 3 thread pitch.

eleblanc,

I am 110% certain that the bolt that came out of my '82 BJ42 was as stated, a M12 x 1.25 x 45. I know how to use both a micrometer and a thread gauge.

What may be confusing to you is that the bolt entry hole is larger than the M12 and gives the appearance that it needs to be a M14. The bolt inserts a little way (don't recall but about 1 cm) and then engages with the thread.

I suggest checking to see if:

1. Your bolt has sheared off in the block
2. If your block has been butchered and some other hole bored and threaded.

If it's factory, I cannot imagine that there is any difference between an '82 and an '83.

See this picture, the bolt goes there but on the other side of the block. I'm not saying you got the size wrong. I'm saying M12 is loose in the hole. But you are maybe right, even tho i see thread in the hole shown in the picture, it is probably in the bell housing that it screws. I will check again.

You are correct on bolt size, it is m12. i just didn't have long enough bolt and didn't though it went all the way into clutch housing
