Anyone have a line on a relatively clean 80 series? I'd even entertain a 3FE version if the price was right. Trying to keep it under $6K.

Jason,
There was a black one on craigslist with lockers in Cresson Tx. a day or two ago, Had some electrical issues iirc, but was pretty reasonable and low mileage. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

Yeah, I've been watching that one. He said he was going to replace the fuse panel, which made me nervous.

Yea, could be something simple, but who knows. I would like to see a locked black low mileage 80 in our group....

Buy it... that's cheap... and relatively low mileage.. What type of gremlins does it have in the electrical? Clean carfax? if it was submerged then ya got lots of work. hell, offer him 3...

It's at a shop. He bought it to flip. It just sounds like an electrical nightmare from his comments. I guess if he can get it fixed correctly, it'll be a good deal. I'm not too worried about lockers (although I wouldn't turn them down). I'm looking for something for my son.

All of this scares me: "When I bought it, it did not shift automatically, the dome light circuit (powers interior lights, radio and other stuff) had been shorted out by a bad alarm with insulation burned off the wires..." "THE WORK I HAD DONE RE-ROUTING THE DOME LIGHT CIRCUIT CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE EFI CIRCUIT. SO NOW I AM GOING TO PERSONALLY INSTALL A NEW FUSE BLOCK."

He says there's no CEL's. After my last two 80 series, my experience is that an 80 with no CEL is one with the bulb removed.

I don't know what all electrical he is having problems with. If he repairs is correctly (ie replaces complete wiring harness or fuse block etc) it should not be a recurring issue. As far as the check engine light, same goes for that, if its diagnosed and repaired correctly, there should not be an issue with it either.... We fix CELs every day and don't have issues with them coming back on. The truck looks as if it is going to need a set of seat covers and some tlc, but overall looks pretty decent. It is really hard to find an 80 with that low of miles on it for less than $10k anymore. Just my .02

Hi Jason there is a black 96 or 97 LX450 for sale in McKinney on Craigslist. He priced it at 7 something but it is a dealer and gave me a very different price on it.I have not seen it yet but if you check it out and like it give me a call if he won't make you a good deal.

His number is 469 288 7460 , don't remember the guys name but I bought a Montero Limited from him last month.

Good luck with the search! I've decided my son's first ride will be a clean 2nd gen (90-95) 4Runner...best bargain on a Toyota SUV, currently.

Interested in doing a rebuild or replacing a motor right away? I have a 94 no lockers with a broken low end. Ome low lift springs and arb winch bumper already installed. Let me know if you're interested.

Tempting, but I don't think I want to get into a project right now.

Well I'm hunting for a 60 so it's probably not going anywhere quick if you change your mind.

There's a 1994, white w/ 150k miles for $6,900 at a used car lot in Bonham, that I see every week when I drive by that might be worth a look. It's been there at least 3-4 weeks now, so I suspect they might be negotiable. Probably not a lot of potential buyers for a car like that in a small country town.

Thanks all. I think I'm gonna pass on the 80's. After looking at a couple and remembering the ones I had, I forgot how much I don't like them. Maybe a 4runner, who knows.
