I am looking for another LX. In the process I always plug in the VIN at Lexus.com to check out the history. Over and over again I have been very disappointed in the problems that I see are getting repaired or customer declining work.
Little things that are falling off, DVDs inoperable, shocks going out, etc. Small but important things are failing at a very young age with very low miles.
I am a ginormous LX/LC fan and NEVER plan to drive anything else....but the above reminds me of the last 100 years of American cars and that is very disappointing. Any consoling available or are you guys seeing the same thing. ??
You'll get little stuff like that with every car. We have 8 Lexus in the family, all different models. They all have their little issues that need to be solved over the last 10 years. Take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you. We've seen 250k+ miles on some of our cars and never regretted owning any of them.
I try not to be cynical, but keep in mind that dealers may recommend lots of service that isn't really needed and could show up in records as being declined. I know the local Toyota dealer here "provides" each service customer with an exhaustive printout of all possible service their vehicle might need in the coming months/miles, in their opinion. That could look bad in a VIN check of service records even on an otherwise great vehicle.
Sandroad, Exactly correct. I do see what you say and realize dealers are trying to get work. I also recognize that there is probably more work being done by other mechanics. Usually the last mileage documented by the dealer is considerably less than current mileage on vehicle.
