In order to fit into my new garage I might need to make some changes to the 200. I would need to put the medium rear springs back in and find some new shoes. I'm looking at the BFG KM2's in 255/80R17 (33.3" by 10"). The question I have is with the size and weight of my cruiser does anybody see an issue with a 10" wide tire on my TRD rims?

Thanks for help and or insight.

That should be fine? What do you have on their now...9.5"? Bumping up to a 10 shouldn't case any issues.

chimyz,

My current tires are Toyo Open Country MT 34.1"x11.6" on the TRD 17"x8" rims.

BFG's website says those tires will fit a rim 6.5-8.5" wide, so you should be good to go.

It was late when I wrote that...wasn't thinking. You should still have no problems. Might look goofy, tire sidewall could be in about 1" more than now.

Just a thought...
Not sure what your garage set up is, but in my old house I lifted the garage door by 1' to compensate for the truck (and then some). It was WWAAAYYYY cheaper than buying new tires.

My primary concern would be that a 10" wide tire would be too thin for the weight of my truck. During the summer months the truck gets heavy with all the extra items for camping. I think the last time I weighed the truck, fully loaded she came in at 7900 ibs. Also would there be any issues with 10" wide tires when it comes to off camber situation?

KM2s are a great choice, and as long as the weight ratings on the tires are adequate I wouldn't worry about the width. The difference between a 10" or 11" is not that big in reality and will make very little difference on trail off camber or otherwise, just make sure you get the correct tire pressure. Plus you will burn less gas with the skinnier tires.

Actually in general, skinnier is better for typical expo use, there was a huge debate about it in the 80 section about two or three years ago.

Are you out of options up top? I would sooner look at ways to reduce the height of my roof rack before I started reducing ground clearance and/or suspension height. By the way where did you guys move to?

You know my feelings. The truck is dialed in. Cut wood, not tires.

But to your original question, BFG lists the max load per single tire as 3195 lbs @ 80 psi. Your weight distributed across 4 tires is within their maximum rating.

But I wouldn't think it would like any 1 wheel stands aired-down very long on rocky ascents.

In addition to the narrower width, their lighter weight at 55.8 lbs will contribute to better mileage as well. If you're still planning on carrying 6 tires, that will save you probably 120 or so pounds over your current treads.
