Looking at a 98LX, 160k miles asking $14,900. Looks super clean, new tires, 1 owner. Seems high to me. KBB excellent condition is only about $12k. Anything I should look for specifically on this one? Would like to get him down to 10-12 range. Secretary says he has all maintenance records, but she had no specifics.

Any advice would be great

too much to pay in any condition. On a trade in it would be a stretch to get 8k, if he could find a dealer to even take it. Value of "big heavy's" are falling like crazy. My '04 DC 4x4 Tundra blue book price dropped 5-6K in the last 6 weeks. My running partner is a used car salesman and said that Kelly Blue book, NADA.com and Edmunds prices don't mean much at all in today's market.

my thoughts exactly

I thought he was way too high also. Its in great condition but still should be closer to 10k. My 91' is wearing quite old right now, especially with the wife. My 2 year old son is asking when we are getting a new truck, so I have to get another cruiser, but not in that much of a hurry.

Bought my '99 for 10 even in July when it had 134K - one owner CA truck that's just about as nice as one can be for the age and mileage.

Service history is critical on these as there are several very expensive repair/maintenance items that affect value. If it's been serviced at a Lexus store, any dealer can print out its history by supplying them with the VIN. If not, don't buy one unless it has receipts, etc.
